A friend called me the other day and told me about a Camaro he found. The guy who owns it is convinced that it's a Z but it can't be verified. Here's what I know:

Good:
BV coded Rear - 4:11
Vin matching M-21
Correct firewall piercing
8k tach
Front Disc
Proportioning valve
Single fuel line
Dual hanger
Holly Carb
Console with original gauges
Seats are original

Bad:

010 - Block - it's decked
Wrong shifter and linkage
Incorrect heads (has angle plug heads now)
Has incorrect valve covers
Missong OEM Distributer (nas MSD)
Has rear disc
Frame connectors (bolt on)
Stereo in the dash - it's cut
Incorrect intake
Drop coils in front
Has headers + aftermarket exhaust
Aftermarket differential cover
Aftermarket sway bar
Originally manual steering - now has power steering
Wheels ??? - Owner didn't want the trim rings / caps removed
Has OEM Cowl hood, but no piercing on the cowl.
No smog stuff left
Missing OEM bell housing - has scatter shield

Current owner has had it since 77 - It's a late April Van Nuys car. He dropped the tank and there was a build sheet but it apparently illegible. It's a 76/76 car but is currently painted black. Apparently it's a solid car from a rust perspective, but the driver's quarter got hit sometime in the past it was replaced when they painted it black. My friend says it's a solid car and a runner but there's a lot that would need to be done to make it "correct".

The BV rear is worth a few dollars. I'd pay no more than the sum of the parts are worth.

The "friend" that found it is in Lake Tahoe ---- the "friend" that looked it over for me is in Reno.

Dually noted --- My next hat trick will be to wax eloquent in the Pro Street Section --- all I need to do is get Gary L. to come up here to post from my profile again and I will be good to go.

So, I take it that you mean that the car is only worth a "Camaro" price (not a "Z" price) and, that the components it has and the condition it's in would equate to it's value as if it were a PJ car?

None of us are quite sure what's gonna happen when Steve leaves the safety of the 'hidden-forums' to post
But we all breathe a sigh of relief when it is about a car l:)

I had to do it because Stevie has been here long enough to know that WE NEED PICTURES !

If it is a nice running car it is worth 20k+/- but only if you can prove it is a Z .. I think the M21 does that if the VIN stamp looks good and matches the car.M-21's only SB application I believe was a Z, Then 396/350 HP on up to COPO... I would also get a peek at the partial build sheet. May be enough there to tell what's what

Without pics, yes. Or kinda. Camaro price + the value of the parts. The BV rear is pretty rare, and the muncie M21 helps as well. Of course, if there is enough left to prove a Z
(Did you check the rear seat bulkhead for an x code, they are frequently there in chalk marks, even on pre x code cars) then you could have Jerry M certify it (if it passes) then it would br worth somewhat more.

He checked behind the rear seat.. nothing there - (I thought only Norwood cars had Bulkhead "X" marks???)

Van, you knew I couldn't get pics --- you're just giving me a hard time because you know I can take it :D

What if:

It's a good running car
In good shape
I can't prove it's a Z

With the options it has, AND WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SHOW YOU PICS :hurray: ), whaddayathink?
