Just started to clean up the wheel wells and found more rust and more rot that needs to be repaired. I plan on running a Cragar 17 by 9.5 in the rear with a 275/55R17 tire. Will this rub the inner well? If not what back spacing on the rim will I need to avoid this? I only ask because Im not going to go through the hassle of repairing these wells if i'll need mini tubs. Give me your input.

What year and do you have drum or dick brakes... My 69 with a 12-bolt and drums have 18x9.5 with 5.5 back space and tires are 285/40/18 but 275/40/18 will be my next set of rear tires to help clear...

oh yeah forgot about that, can is a 68' camaro, and as of now its a 10 bolt with drums. I do plan on switching over to a 12 bolt with disks in the rear. But, that's not for awhile, there's a lot more important things to do before that. Ide like to know what specs need to be used to clear both set ups, my 10 bolt with drums and a 12 bolt with disks.

A 275/55-17 tire is 29" tall. Are you sure you want to go with that tall of a tire? When the body leans you're going to be very tight on the inside of the inner wheel house. That can be a problem with tires that are only 27" tall. Just something else to think about before you spend your money.

Lots of guys running 17x9.5s with 5.5" of backspace - do search there is literally hours of reading. You can also go with a 255/50-17 on a 17x9 with 5.25" backspace if you want a 27" tall tire.
