Hi Guy's
Thought it long over due that i would send some photo's of my 496 in the Camaro, it's been a long time coming, just a few issues with throwing alt belts so my right foot is limited at the moment & wiper motor not fitting but got my eye on a detroit speed set up, also a big thanks to UD Harold for the camshaft advice using a 402B1LUN, it made 652HP @ 6000 & 585ftIb @ 4500 so not bad for a flat tappet solid, also thanks to you guy's for your input over the last couple of years, great forum.:beers:

Cheers
Mick

Looks awesome and 625HP makes it even better. The master cylinder and rag joint on the right side took my mind for quick spin. Not used to seeing that setup on a 1st gen Camaro. Did Chevy actually make some models like that or is that all custom switch-er-roo job?

Hi Zlek131

Thanks for the comments, no unfortunately GM never produced these down under, as you would be aware plenty of Camaro/Mustangs down under & prior to new regulation all had to be were converted to RHD, now we are able to drive vehicles as LHD as long as they are 30 years & over, cars that is not the driver.

Cheers Mick.:)

Man that sucks...we are lucky in NZ a car over (about) 20 yrs old doesnt have to be...
And a car under only has to be if resold and still under the (about) 20 yrs old, or If has been owned for a few yrs.

Out of interest Aussie and NZ have more American 'rods per head of population than any country in the world. Down under is the home of true 'petrol heads' lol

Mick,

Saw your car at Flemington last week, simply stunning.

Love this forum but pop over to www.usmuscle.com.au there is a bunch of us Camaro guys on there and I know they would appreciate hearing more about yours.

Great car, great colour. When mine is on the road I'd love some pics side by side of them both.

Rgds

Hi Chris, Skeeter55 & Larry B.

Yeah Flemington was great, big turn out, shame about the weather it absolutely poured down on the way home, still sorting out a few bugs with the new engine package but no doubt we all go through that, i'll check out the web site, many thanks.

Skeeter55 the 496 is a Gen VI block, Eagle crank(4.250), Eagle rods .250 longer, SRP's 18cc, Lunati 402B1LUN solid f/tappet, Merlin Alloy's 310cc with a little extra porting, Victor, 950 AED, p/glide & 5000 TCE convertor, runs great probably a little too cammy but maybe i'm getting old.

Larry B, this car has an old conversion actually back in the 70's using all Camaro steering geometry, ie Steering box, idler arm & bracket just a reversed draglink that has been welded, pinned & xrayed, it drives really well for a 40 plus year old car, i've attached some more photos.

Thanks again guy's.:beers:

It's just plain weird seeing a right hand drive engine compartment! Very "tuff" looking though!!!

How did they reverse the dash panel?
Shifting with your left hand, now that would be weird!! At least you still use your right foot for what it was ment for.
