My new 406 smallblock is fed by a holley mechanical pump. It has the fuel guage mounted on the fuel line at the carb. It only shows 4lbs of fuel pressure. I was told I should have 6 lbs of pressure showing on the guage.
I ordered a 130 gph mechanical holley with a regulator. Will this be ok?

Chris, why? Four to five PSI is right in there. It's volume that counts. Does the float level drop when you rev it up? If not, I suggest canceling your order.

Those little gauges that go in the fuel line are garbage. I have been through 3 of them. The last one was an aeromotive I thought it would be better than the summit one. I was wrong! It was 3 lb low compared to my autometer mounted in the car and my 5in snap on fuel tester.

I agree, check it with a good reliable gauge first!

Thank you guys! I will put a new guage on first. The guy I talked to scared me. He said my engine would suck the carb dry when getting on it. I truthfully have not had a problem yet. But I have not driven it alot. I am running 1/2 inch braided line.
I will try new guage and I may be sending back my order.

That guy is tripping. The float levels would go low and you would run lean. I run 7 1/2 with my BG carb. Most fuel pressure gauges are unreliable. The expensive electric ones are best. Always double check the gauge using the handheld fuel pressure gauge teed in.

I changed the gauge. I'm at 6 to 6.5. The guage was tested. I saved some money. Thanks to all!:hurray:
