JeffT1 Apr 16th, 09, 10:06 AM Looks good Dave, I don't think you can ever have too much "man space".
john68 Apr 16th, 09, 10:08 AM Looks great, I could live there!
clwilcox33 Apr 16th, 09, 10:40 AM A month is quite ambitious unless ya got a big crew helping. Looks great so far!
drbrick Apr 16th, 09, 11:07 AM Wellll-maybe a month is a bit ambitious,Theres only 3 of us workin on this..But seeing the project this far along-well i guess it makes me really want it done.
Any way, thanks for the kind words guys.
prostreet69camaro Apr 16th, 09, 11:31 AM Looks very nice.
Ironman24 Apr 16th, 09, 12:53 PM Looks Great!
Hatman Apr 16th, 09, 02:38 PM As long as the weather holds out you should should be able to get it done in a month.
drbrick Apr 16th, 09, 02:44 PM Hey Will-Ya here in Cali the weather usally holds out just fine.Im just waiting for the siding to be delivered and the garage door man to show up,then on to electrical and paint the floor and then get the cars moved in and then start makin a mess!I cant wait.
Hatman Apr 16th, 09, 04:59 PM Dam, that must be nice to have good weather, when I built my 36x60 we had it framed up in one weekend then I had to wait five weeks to put the tin on either it was pouring rain or we had 40 mph winds. Hope all goes well & be careful.
yellow69RS Apr 16th, 09, 07:14 PM You're makin me jealous;)
Jeff
drbrick Apr 17th, 09, 09:16 AM The wifes a bit (jealous?) also-The barn is now 30 sq' bigger than my house..Good thing though, cause i might end up sleepin out there!:D
drbrick May 8th, 09, 10:53 AM Makin good progress now.Still waiting on the garage doors and electrical...Replacing the rest of the old siding to match new.I guess my 1 month to finish time frame has gone out the window, but i will keep on pluggin away...:beers:
Fred Ficarra May 8th, 09, 11:44 AM Dave, when you're done, would you come up here and do mine? The biggest mistake we made with our barn was building it too short. It needs to be twice as high. What do you think? Feel free to bring the fork lift and high-lift.
Here's a look (I hope). See the horse trailer in the distance? Can't even put it in the barn, much less RV's.

click May 8th, 09, 12:02 PM Dave how are you channeling around windows and doors? Im going to be adding windows for ventilation and light to my pole barn but its after the barn is up. Wondering what tin or aluminum or vinyl you use around windows and how you install J channel or whatever works around windows in particular? Great looking shop
drbrick May 8th, 09, 12:21 PM Dang Fred!!I was going to tell people that i took the high photos from a helicopter!!Now everyone knows it was from a high reach lift..Btw-I will trade you you one high reach lift for a crane.lol.
If you are planning on putting that boat in that barn in the back ground-you might want to remove the roof first.:D
drbrick May 8th, 09, 12:30 PM Dave how are you channeling around windows and doors? Im going to be adding windows for ventilation and light to my pole barn but its after the barn is up. Wondering what tin or aluminum or vinyl you use around windows and how you install J channel or whatever works around windows in particular? Great looking shop
Jim,all of the siding is 29 gauge tin, with a baked enamel paint finish.I used 1" "J" channel around all openings, and used some double sided mastic tape provided by siding supplier to go between the end of the siding and the flat edge of the J channel..
I strongly suggest using some opaque panels on the roof to let some light in.Good luck:beers:
click May 8th, 09, 03:11 PM cutting into my roof is out of the question, its too tall and would take a ton of work. I get insulated glass windows from local Habitat for Humanity retail store very cheap... easier to frame in a spot and cut them in. I have to check around for J channel more I guess. Thanks.
drbrick May 8th, 09, 04:51 PM J channel is the only way to go-Home depot sells a type of J channel, but it would not work for my application.Check your area for siding suppliers..They should have every thing you need including answers!I know i had to ask a LOT of questions, and they answered all of them.Good luck Jim.
drbrick May 21st, 09, 02:11 PM Well....outside is done!!Here is some pics. The electriacal is done on the inside,so all that is left is to seal the floors, and move my stuff in.Its beeen quite the chore, but i am really happy with how its turned out.I will post some more pics in a couple of weeks once i get everything moved in.:beers:
Fred Ficarra May 22nd, 09, 09:18 AM Dave, beautiful. One of our hobbies is taking pictures of old barns while traveling with the camper. We should switch to new barns like yours!
Interesting choice for doors. Yours swing out. Any particular reason? They look great.
drbrick May 22nd, 09, 09:40 AM Fred, thanks for the compliments on the barn.I actually put a lot of planning into making it look like a barn and not just a metal building.
The doors are really regular roll up doors that i put hardware on to make it look like swing out doors.:D

You're like me; too much time on your hands!
click May 22nd, 09, 11:01 AM Now my wife (an artist) saw your doors and she is going to 'paint' the fake hinges and fake windows on our garage doors at our farm. Sort of mini murals to get that same effect. Its very nice to look at those doors.
drbrick May 22nd, 09, 12:47 PM Post up some pics of the "fake " hinges and handles on the doors when she gets them done Jim.I would like to see how they turn out.
click May 22nd, 09, 03:15 PM Will do but it might be awhile since we have not moved to the farm yet. We just mow the lawn :)
