I've noticed Pertronix has come out with the Ignitor 3. Does anyone have any experience with this device? What are the differences between Ignitor 2 and 3?
Thanks

For me, the PerTronix systems have proven to be not worth it. I just send my ignition work to Dave Ray, get the good stuff right off, don't look back, and don't have the problems others have with the other systems.

Some have good luck with the other systems, I never did. Now, it's only one of two for me, Dave's, or MSD box triggered by one of Dave's conversion distributors.

Thanks Milton. It seems I have been hearing the same comments from lots of sources. How do I get in touch with Dave?

Try http://www.davesmallbodyheis.com. He has been difficult to get a hold of in the past due to some health issues, but I think he's doing business as usual again. Dave is a one-man-show. He's extreamly helpful, but you might need some patients to get in touch. The great thing about Dave's setups is that they use standard over-the-counter parts which can be a real blessing if you're broke down on the road somewhere.

I just spoke with Dave over the phone, he's doing HEI conversion number 40 for me.

He had a voltage surge in his place, lost both his desktop and laptop computer hard drives, is just now getting back on line, and hasn't got the e/mail up and running again.

I'd suggest just calling him on the phone, and discussing your conversion, and when the e/mail gets back working, he has a picture set and specification sheet he will send you.

I like the daylights out of his systems, and him, he has never sent me off in the wrong direction, and, his stuff works, doesn't fail often at all.

He has proven to me, time and time, and time again that his conversions are top notch, and so is his after sale support. He doesn't just make you a customer, he treats you like a long time good friend as well, and that is really hard to beat in today's market place.

I have a 1997 Pertronix Ignitor system in my camaro it's works fine no problems. If it were to go out I would not hesitate to replace it with a Ignitor 3 just because it has a rev. limiter built in it now.

I spoke with Dave again today, his e/mail is back up and running.

He says if you MUST run the Ignitor setups, run the very first series, stock GM coils, stock resistance wires and RESISTOR FEED WIRE to the coil, they seem to be the best of the PerTronix Ignitors. He said he heard of a few rev limiter issues with the Ignitor 3.

Just passing on info.
