Hi,

Anyone know of any dealers who have any unsold pre allocated allotments left for new 2010 Camaro? I am willing to pay some bit over MSRP price.

thanks
JL

I was at my dealer on Wednesday, and was told that only 9 of their 15 have been sold.

Contact Scott Volkert (info below) he may have the information you are looking for :D

He has a red 2SS available at MSRP :D
Many dealers are selling them at MSRP w/o markup.

Word from the many dealers I spoke to was they had no idea and could not committ to any estimates. GM factory in CAD pulls sold orders to build not by order date placed but by commonality of what they are building that week. At least that was what was explained to me. Example, any orders with hurst shifter are on hold, so even if placed 30-40 days ago, it is not getting built- just now. A customer order went in for an SS last week with auto trans and it went to build. They may have been doing a run of SS auto trans cars...he was lucky.

Sort of makes sense...if you have 75 orders for silver ice with RS package or just one order for V6 base car, which would you build? Makes sense to wait for more base v6 orders before starting a build for just one and knock out the 75 cars?

Anyway- that was what the sales mgr explained to me?

My local dealer sold 3 of their 5 allotments, last time I talked to him. I have to call him monday because a Car guy at work is looking to buy one.

So I saw an ad on Craigslist a week or two ago, supposedly was a salesman at a local Chevy dealership, advertising the new Camaro and saying they would have some ON THE LOT, and for sale in the next few weeks! So, I emailed the guy and tell him I'd like to test drive one and would be a serious buyer if I liked it, he took my contact information and so forth. Get a PHONE CALL from him this morning, WE'VE GOT FIVE JUST IN ON THE TRAILER! ALL SS models too! Come on in and take one for a spin! They will be ready in a couple hours! WOO HOO I THINK TO MYSELF! 10 minutes later I get a TXT message saying, "Sorry, those are already spoken for"...........What a maroon! I had already made lunch plans and was going to go test drive one! That idiot should be fired! By the way, this was at Friendly Chevrolet in downtown Dallas, so if you ordered a red SS, it's here!!!!!!

My local dealer does not have a firm arrival date yet, beginning of May is the best guess. All 5 of the dealers allotments have been sold (good news!), one person bought 2! (his and hers??) :)

Give him credit for contacting you back. Most would have let you "come on down!" before you found out they were already taken...

How about NOT giving him credit for trying to sell a car that was already spoken for? Any salesmen worth a hill of beans would have checked on this before making phone calls to people, wouldn't ya' think? Probably some young kid, sounded young on the phone. Seriously, I'm not going to stop this from me buying a Camaro, but GM has enough black eyes, it doesn't need anymore, and this was really so preventable. Do a little homework for Christ's sake!!!!

Don't ever change John... ;) Everyone makes a mistake, at least he owned up before it cost you gas and your time making the trip! I know if Danny posted he'd reply in your support that you took a shower and got dressed just for the test drive so you really were imposed on by this! :D

I'm just messing around here but I figure if you had not found out until you got to the dealership we would have had to delete your post about it! :stirpot: l:)

Good one Dennis! Like I said, I'm not all that bent out of shape about it, especially now that I've had the day to cool off. I'm still going to get one, or a Challenger, or another 1st generation Camaro. It's not a matter of if, but when!
