My buddy has a 92 Camaro with the 305 in it. He wants to do some bolt on peformance upgrades. Other than headers and gears what can he do to the car to help the performance alittle. Also which brand of header fits best on the 3rd Gen Camaros and how hard are they to install?

Edelbrock makes a nice set of legal headers for the third gen Camaro. I had a set and liked them.
They are not too easy to install but can be done in a day.
You may have to unbolt one of the engine mounts to get the passenger header in. The passenger side is much harder than the driver’s side.

If you are going to install the headers you should also install a Flowmaster muffler.

Is the engine a TPI motor?

I just installed a set of Hedman Shorties...I can send you the Part Number this PM. They fit almost like a glove. I did have to raise the engine to get the passenger side on, but that's normal (clearance on the passenger side is tight). I had to push the brake lines in a little by the master cylinder, too. Unless GM changed the routing of the fuel line over the decade, regardless of header type, you'll want to re-route the fuel line. Mine comes within 1/4" of the passenger side header. With these headers, make sure that you start all the bolts before tightening. If you don't, the inside bolts (closest to the rear) at the #1 & #2 cylinder won't have enough clearance to start straight. Last thing: Don't use their gaskets...they are paper. Get you a set of good Mr. Gaskets or something.

What sucks no matter what is the deal with power steering & the AC. Look at the bracket attached to the back of both of them now (it also attaches to the exhaust manifold). You'll have to modify this to make it work with headers. You need this bracket to keep the power steering pulley aligned correctly with the AC. Otherwise, you'll go through belts like no tomorrow.

Edelbrock performer intake manifold is a good match. Don't go to the RPM...it is overkill.

If you don't have dual-snorkel air breather cover, it is a good idea, if you don't already have one. They can be found on e-bay & occasionally in junkyards for both fuel injection & carb models.

K&N Air filter is a good add-on.

I'm considering a set of March pulleys. Check out Summitracing.com.
