View Full Version : 69 hood grills on new 2010?
faninc Apr 17th, 09, 09:43 PM Hi all,
Sure there will be many aftermarket Camaro parts for new 2010 camaro. What do folks think about putting the 69 hood chrome louver grills on the hood of the new camaro?
Not sure if they would fit, or perhaps someone will build them for this car?
I love them on my 69, really sets off the hood.

KevinW Apr 18th, 09, 05:06 AM The hood grills actually sit in a recess made in the hood. If you just bolted them to the top of the hood, they will be too tall IMO. Now if someone makes an after market hood with the recesses, then you are in business :) I still think one the first aftermarket parts will be larger SS emblems in the center grill and tail :D
Eric Kammerer Apr 18th, 09, 05:31 AM There was a "pace car tribute" a few years back in the NYC area for sale that had the SS stacks bolted to the flat hood. UGLY.
It will be interesting to see what the aftermarket chooses to make, which will depend in part of how well the new car sells. The aftermarket hood choice for 3rd and 4th gens is pretty slim, so I have my doubts there will be a whole lot for the 5th unless it takes off.
OverAnxious Apr 19th, 09, 07:45 PM Considering the hoods are of the cowl induction design, that might be a horrible addition :D
faninc Apr 19th, 09, 08:45 PM Wonder how the aftermarket ones from 69 would sit on this cowl of 2010? The 2010 cowl may slope to much for them to lay flat? Perhaps someone will recast and not require an all new hood? Would be great...

1st 67 SS/RS Apr 20th, 09, 05:47 AM How about putting some of the 67 finned ones on there? Just kidding.
yellow69RS Apr 20th, 09, 08:01 AM An old friend of mine put a T/A shaker hood scoop on his Cutlass by cutting the hole from the T/A and welding it to the Cutlass hood. It took some time but came out great.
I would think this could be done in this case also, the hard part would be finding a 69 hood to cut.
