Hea Guys! I was driving last night and everything was going great. I was sitting at a stop light and saw that temp guage was going up. I pulled into a parking lot and saw that fan was not running. My 30 amp fuse was melted in its cradle. I have to trouble shoot it today. Any suggestions for what could be the cause. Bad fan motor?

Try jumping the fan directly to the battery to see if it runs. Geez I hate electrical issues...good luck!

bad motor is a start, bad ground will cause a hi amp draw, also insufficent current on the plus-side.
car been sitting all winter or a new install ?
check all connections for tightness or corrosion.

I found that the transmission cooler fan is bad. Would that have caused the meltdown?
It is wired and run on the same relay and 30 amp fuse.

you are running two electric fans on one relay with one 30 amp fuse?
i think we've found your problem.

Yep! thats how the car was set up when I bought it. I don't think the actual fan for the radiator has its own temp sensor. It looks like its triggered off of the trans fan. Its time to get it right. So I need a second temp sender relay and harness?

Yes, having two motors starting at the same time on one circuit is not good. You should have been able to feel the drawdown on your alternator eery time the fans started.

I bought a new relay with adjustable temp setting. I hooked it up to run the radiator
fan. Works great! Except one thing. It blew the 25 amp fuse. I temporarily crossed it with a wire to set the temp. I have 30 amp fuses everywhere else. I'm not sure why the 25 amp blew. The fan runs fine. Does the fan draw too much?

The initial DC current surge for startup may been too much for the 25 amp fuse.
