For what it's worth, and for what one paid...are two different things.

Maybe that is why someone wanted it. It would come in handy to add to all the books, dvd's, and cd's we seem to collect/use.
The price was high for a lot of us but not what I would consider outrageous. I have used my old GM part books a great deal and they are worth more than a few hundred. How many of these do you see with that date and binder?

Actually I was just trying to bug Van but I do have the entire book on CD. Comes in handy!

I guess as a collectors item it might be a good book. One of my local dealers had all of the original parts books , AND a cross reference to the new part numbers. That was invaluable. I could get NOS parts through the GM dealer using my original parts and numbers. I was like a kid in a candy shop when I found that out. All the other dealers just scratched their heads and could not find the number.

I might be breaking the forum rules by doing this, but here's something similar.

We may have to put you on double secret probation for such a blatant indiscretion !!! :D

I actually think the price is just about right
Recently saw one for $600 and it was sold within the day...
I also saw a full 1975 master cat. for over $1k sell very fast.
The truck parts cat.s are really going nuts - they are all in the upper $800 range and sell quickly.

Not exactly true. Something is worth what one person agrees to pay for it, even if no one else in the world would pay that much for it. Price is set where the supply curve crosses the demand curve. Now if only one person in the world wants it, then after they buy it, the next one will have lower demand, and thus sell for less. Conversely, if the supply goes up, the price is set at a lower value. Econ 101.

I have a Parts and Accessories Manual dated Sept '70... containing Nova, Camaro, etc... It's probably 8 inches thick.... but no binder. I BEGGED my Chevy parts guy for it when they got new ones back in the '70's.. . as well as buying several thousand$$ of parts... :) Are these things valuable?
