1st 67 SS/RS Apr 20th, 09, 05:44 AM I would be careful with this car. Have someone check it for rust and how much bondo is on this thing. Get the cowl tag numbers from it and research what the car was when it came from the factory http://www.camaros.org/numbers.shtml. Looking and researching these cars is half the fun. First question you need to answer is "How much do I want to put into this car and how much work can you do yourself?" Looks like the door corners are rusting out, those might be patched/bondoed or hiding a bigger problem. The car is worth IMO in the 15K or less range due to the rust. No offense, but at 20, how deep is your wallet? At 19, I had to decide between a dependable truck with good gas mileage and my nieghbor's 69 SS camaro (no rust, metallic blue with the Z28 stripes, a rebuilt 350 and auto trans). I took the truck, an 88 Nissan Kingcab SEV6, 325,000 miles later, I still have it and it got me thru college plus a few girlfriends:) The point is, these cars cost some money to fix and keep up, just over estimate what you think you are going to spend. If you get the car for 15K, expect to put another 5-10K to fix the body, paint it and replace some of the interior. Not sure on the insurance, but I am thinking you are not going to get any breaks on a 40 year old car with a 396! If you get the car, enjoy it and remember if you take care of it, it will take care of you.

PsyDoc Apr 20th, 09, 09:05 AM The one thing that I have noticed on some 1st gen 4-speed Camaros, that gives me pause, is that the shifter location is shifted to the left of the trans tunnel and not in the middle where it should be. I do not know whether this is due to a different transmission being installed, wrong motor mounts, or what. But, usually, the side of the trans tunnel is cut-up to accommodate it.
