if given the option to invest in a 2010 SS or a 1969 SS today, which would you choose? investment cost relatively equal. What do you guys think will be worth more money in 20 years?

1969. It will become even rarer and would be 60 years old. Plus it looks better.

I would bet the 69 (or any 1st gen) rattles less and runs better after 60 years than the 2010 after 20.

That's a fact! If Gm goes bankrupt and stops producing Camaro I wonder if the 2010's will be collectables like Tuckers or Pacers.

In 20 years most 2010 Camaros will be a 20 year old car being driven by 16 yr olds like the 3rd gens right now. A '69 Camaro will be like the 55-57 Belairs, still popular but mostly owned by really old guys ;)

I would bet the 69 (or any 1st gen) rattles less and runs better after 60 years than the 2010 after 20.

Most '69 Camaros were rattle traps by the time they were 10-15 years old and it's only the restoration efforts of the collectors and owners that keep them from being rattle traps. New cars today hold up quite well, our 10 year old Impala is amazingly rattle free after 103k miles and 3 years of a teen driving it.

That's a fact! If Gm goes bankrupt and stops producing Camaro I wonder if the 2010's will be collectables like Tuckers or Pacers.

Bankrupt doesn't mean out of business, it means your creditors forgive your loans so you can stay in business.

I'd rather try to find a distributor, which is about the most high tech component in a 69, in 20 or 30 years from now (as if I would be alive), than a PCM, ECM, BMPV, EBCM, IPC or any of the other controllers or modules you will need to keep a modern car running after GM stops supporting it. Stick with the 69.

Unless GM shuts down production and you get one of 50 427 LS Z28's....I don't think its even close.

No not exactly but my point was bankruptcy doesn't mean closing the doors and it's often used as a Corp restructuring strategy. Holley management actually bragged their bankruptcy was the perfect business plan prior to filing. I know many people that have walked away from their debts after being granted bankruptcy!

I don't think your criticism is warranted, and it's not the first time, have I stepped on your toes somewhere?

No mass produced car will ever be worth any car coming out of the "muscle car" era.

Obviously a 69. As if there was another answer. There is a reason why the only classic camaro is a 1st gen. And it will always be. Chevy has been trying to either keep the legend alive or in some cases try to recreate it. In my opinion failing everytime. The closest they came was the 70 to 73 models. Since then downhill all the way. It's not that I don't like the new Camaro. It's just that it's a new Camaro. Like a new Mustang or Challenger, it has no appeal to me because it is not vintage or classic. If I wanted a new car I would buy one that suits my present needs, but If I was going to spend money on a new car like the origianl question asked, I would invest in a 69. Not only will it increase in value but that car will never go out of style or loose it's cool factor. As for the new Camaro. Wait a year or two. I don't think it will last much longer given the state of GM right now. Just a note that I do think the new Camaro is 3rd on my list behind the 70 to 73 models as far as looks goes.

Ya tell me about it.......So tell me (Not solisiting just asking a question) Would you really trade a 1 of 7200 for a 1 on every street corner? Again I am not asking to trade anything, just asking if you would really do it? I see a 68 Z as a Camaro worth something now and a new SS not being worth more but loosing value over the years.

I would love to have a new SS and I am considering a purchace when I get some debt down so it's about 3 years out. Everytime I look at used Vett's though I start thinking bang for the buck and the Camaro is nice abut a nice used Vett way cool!! I have seen some 03, 04, 05 Z06's for 25-35K range.

This one is sweet and at a 35K and 15K miles, I think it's value just kills what you can get in a new SS for the same price.

I'd take the '69. It looks better, they're easier to work on, they will always have value, there will always be mechanical parts available and people that know how to fix them.

In the post-apocalyptic, mad-max world, there will always a '69 V8 Camaro. I can't say the same for the 2010.

69 hands down.
It is only similar to the 67 or 68 Camaro models and unique to its self.
The 2010 body looks too similar to several other newer body styles out there.

Now that does not mean that one would not upgrade the 69 with newer technologies.

1969; a classic from the greatest decade in the history of the American auto industry. Any domestic car built since, except for very early '70's, pales in comparison to what was built in the 1960's.

I just meant as an investment value in the future!! what did the top of the line 02 model sell for and what is it worth now?? maybe by 2022 the 02 will be worth some coin!! the 2010 will be in the same boat!!

For me the 2010 wasnt an investment, it was a fun factor buy. even our 68 wasnt for the investment (I'd never get my money i have tied up in it back out of it) but rather that it was my wifes dream car.

Govenment motors is not going to fail. So I don't see the new camaro being low production numbers. I could see these being stored and kept by collectors more so than the 69's were.
That's what's gonna make the 69's come out on top in the long term. The original camaro were not thought of as an investment from day one (by the general public anyway) so they were used, abused, and crashed into rarity. The high performance-high option 2010 camaro is going to be purchased by people who are looking to preserve its value.

If I wanted a 2010 I would buy it in 5-10 years whent hey hit bottom. Then it may appreciate at some point. No way would I fork out 25-30 k, thats dead money.
