How are you guys putting the governor cap back on when the tranny is in the car? I don't want to drop the cross member to reinstall it. I can get it off, but I don't see an even way of getting it to moutn flush all the way around with so little room to hit it.

About the only safest way is to drop the xmember and with a small hammer, tap around the edge of the cover to seat it.

If you dent the center of the cap, you could remove the slack and bind the governor as the cover serves to prevent the governor from coming out of the case. It needs some endplay.

you can take a long screw driver and hit it back on. use some silicone on it and hit it on sides only it will go back flush.
