I have th350 in my 69 that i just had redone. I installed new shift and kickdown cables and adjusted the kickdown like this: Wot cable fully extended. The car used to downshift at 20-30mph when you would tromp it and smoke the tires but now will not. Is there a different adjustment for this cable? I have also adjusted the vacuum modulator for later part throttle shifts, is this affecting that? Any input would be appreciated
thanks

At wot and pull the cable there should be about 1/16 play in the slot...
thu I dont think this is your problem
is the modulator adjustable ...removong vac line and turning the screw in ... give it a good 1 1/2 to 2 turns..that should adjust kick down a bit too far then adjust back in 1/4 increments.

I dont quite understand. Yes, i do have an adjustable modulator but from what i understand it only adjusts part throttle upshift not downshift or kickdown

If that was the case I would not have done what I suggest above to custom my kick down for my style of driving...
I can give it 1/2 turn, slightest touch of throttle @ 30 mph on a slope and change down or have it not change down..and similar for open road.
