Does anyone know the numbers that came stamped on the idler and the rods? I am trying to verify if the set I have is original or not (69 Z). Searched but couldn't find any number information.
Thanks as always

Don

Found the rods on a different search :
Jerry MacNeish's book lists #3945599 for the upper rod and #3955773 for the lower. Hope that is what you need.
But still can't find the number for the lever that bolts to the frame.

Reverse idler is a gear inside a 4 speed manual trans.

Reverse lockout is what you are reffering too.

Looking in my Nova assembly manual (most parts should be the same), I believe the part that swivels is 3955780 and is called LEVER, IDLER. The part that the LEVER mounts to and is bolted to the frame is called a SUPPORT ASSEMBLY, part number 3945595. The Lever should be stamped N-5780 but the Support Assy. should not have a number on it. I came up with the same numbers as you did on the rods, and they should be stamped with the last four of the part number also. Three speed, Saginaw four speed and automatic parts are different.

Don

No number stamped on the "lever" that mounts to the frame. I can send you pics of mine it is from a 10E (1969) built X77. The following part numbers can be found in the AIM page 328 UPC M20 A7. On that page the AIM lists a number for the part of bell crank referred to as the "lever" #3955780 and "support assembly" that the lever pivots on as #3945595.

Jerry's book is right on for the rods. Lower rod #395773 (sm blk), column rod 3945599. The manual "support assembly" mounts with two bolts and the automatic is a three hole mount..... hope this helps......

Glad to hear things are wrapping up for you on your build.......

Matt

Thanks MAtt! The add stated:
This unit was removed from my brothers ORIGINAL 1969 Camaro 40 years ago when he put Headers on his Camaro. This unit has been over my work bench & is as nice as the day we removed it. The assembly has the number #5209 stamped into the bell crank. The rods are stamped # B006 & #5767 & is ready to bolt on.

Now I'm not sure what I got stuck with???

Look at the lever again..... If it is has the number 5290 (instead of 5209), you have the parts and pieces from a 69 Camaro with a 3 speed tranny.
