I finally got around to taking my 69 Camaro out for the first time this year with the new tires and rims. I have American Racing Hopster 17x8 with 4.75 BS in front with BFG 235/45/17 tires and on the rear I have 17x9.5 with 5.5 BS and 255/40/17 tires. Wow, what an improvement over the 15 inch rims and 235-60-15 and 245-60-15 Kelly Chargers. Anyone thinking about these tires, they are pretty nice and handle great. Ride wasn't to much worse than with 15 inch rims and the Kelly's. I'm also running the Hotchkis suspension front and rear.
I must say these tires definitely follow the grooves in the road a lot more than the smaller tires on the 15 inch rims. I kind of expected that since I have 245-50-16 tires on my 96 Camaro and it does the same thing, but I just didn't expect it to be as bad as it was on some roads. But these tires are a little bigger with smaller sidewalls, so I guess thats to be expected. On one road which alot of big trucks take, if I let go of the wheel, my car just pulled directly into the groove. Smoother roads weren't a problem so its a trade off. Overall I'm very pleased with this set up.
