If it is a Van Nuys car or early Norwood car, the partial VIN of the car will be stamped there. If it's a mid-Dec or later Norwood car, the VIN will be stamped in the block near the oil filter. There is also an assembly code stamped on the pad. That will tell you what chassis the engine was originally out of. It's possible that the car is a real SS that someone switched the rear end to a 10 bolt, but before you pony upp any money for an SS, I'd make sure it really is.
