GasserOhio May 11th, 09, 03:03 PM Well once again I feel motortrend contines to show their bias toward imports, but thats me. I'd rather have a Camaro, or a Mustang or Challenger anytime over anything with a hyundai name, hell I'd rather be seen in a Gremlin even than one of those recycled beer cans they call cars. Oh and I had a Gremlin too about 15 years ago, wished I had kept it, *LOL* I remember one used to run at Kil-Kare with a 400 Chevy in it, could not keep the front wheels down. kencar69 May 12th, 09, 06:32 AM Most of the advantages they give the Hyundai do not matter in the real word and what they don't mention is thats it for the Hyundai as far as performance and fail to mention the camaro has major upgrades available such as a v8, bigger tire, better suspensions, so on! Mkelcy May 12th, 09, 07:17 AM I would have liked to see them compare cars with comparapble price tags rather than comparable engine sizes. They mentioned that the Genesis Coupe had a $4,500 upgrade package - that means it was the 3.8 Track version that costs $29,500. The 3.8 V6 Camaro they tested was the 1LT at $24,675 - $4,825 less than the Genesis. That seems like an odd comparison. In the first video, they even sort of admit that they've stacked the deck by comparing the Genesis against the "better selling" V6 variant of the Camaro. I wonder if the 3.8 Track is the "better selling" variant of the genesis Coupe? The most comparable Camaro (in terms of cost) would be a Camaro 1SS, with no options at $31,040 - $1,540 more than the Genesis they tested. Now lets do the performance comparison with the Camaro and its 426hp LS3 versus the Genesis and its 306hp V6. :D It's pretty rare that an American car has a price advantage, and Motor Trend completely ignored it. sleepsinshed May 13th, 09, 10:30 AM Another ridiculous comparison. Is there really anyone out there that's torn between these two vehicles? Seems like two entirely different demographics to me. Arch Stanton May 13th, 09, 05:14 PM There was a Hyundai salesman at the local saturday cruise in with one of those. He was talking up a decent sell unti I asked him what something like this go for? He replied 33k. I said you can get a new camaro v6 for cheaper than that. He then tried to comapre the Genesis to a G37 Infiniti and Lexus something or other. Comparing a Hyundai to a Lexus or Infiniti? l:) 33k for a Hyundai. l:) Lets see, which will be better looking on the road? Which one would be worth more at resale? Granted, Hyundai's have come a long way, but in the end, it's still a Hyundai. Everett#2390 May 13th, 09, 05:37 PM I think his waistband is choking his head! Vegas69 May 13th, 09, 05:43 PM Who else wants to kick that guy right in the nads? bodybyfisher May 13th, 09, 09:39 PM Go & price any part from the dealer & see whom gets a kick in the nads. The import parts $ are crazy! victimizati0n May 14th, 09, 07:40 AM so they are comparing a stock car to one with upgrades? are you serious? then they go on and say the hyundai is faster than the camaro by a bit.. well of course, it weighs 300 more pounds, make the weights even, and the camaro would be quicker edit* not to mention compaing the cars with all season tires on the camaro and good tires on the hyundai |
