I pulled the gas tank off my 73'camaro had it cleaned out and i replaced the rubber "o" ring but not the sending unit. My gas hand is showing 1-1/2 inches past Full(with a full tank) what is my problem? Any advice would be greatly helpful thanx.

if it's showing way over past full, you have an open circuit in the sending unit line. Either the sender wire, or possibly the ground are not connected. If it's wired like a first gen, the connector in the trunk might have popped off when you dropped the tank.
