Is this a good water pump to run on my 406? Its the Edelbrock victor series pump. I have been told to run a higher flowing pump because of the 400 engine.

They also make a high volume one. You may as well go with a high volume one if you're going to change it. I run this on my 454 and have been very happy with it.

I've been using the same Edelbrock pump since the mid 90's. Still works great! :beers:

The one I mentioned above says its high volume, just not the endurashine like the one in your link. Any other differences?

I don't think so. I did a side by side comp and it looks like mine is short yours is long, mine is standard rotation yours is clockwise (if that means anything different), mine has 1.950 in. inlet, yours is not listed but I would guess it's the same. Of course BBC vs SBC...

Good eye on the rotation! I want standard rotation as well, right? Wouldnt clockwise be on a reverse cooled engine like the 90's LT1's?

I had a victor jr. start pissing out the weep hole at 2000 miles and Edelbrock wouldn't cover it since it had been over a year. I was forced to buy another one due to my application. So far so good.

Did a little research on this...I serpentine belt systems require a water pump with a reverse rotation meaning clockwise. So, unless you converted your standard V-belt system to serpentine system you will want a standard rotation pump. Glad we looked into that...

Yeah, me to. I didnt know that. I thought reverse flow was on the 90's LT1's. Learn something new everyday:thumbsup:

Now I guess I need to decide which pulley system to run and then the pump. I always thought just the 69 up V-belt setup, but maybe serpentine would be better???

Some claim serpentine will last longer and stay adjusted longer. V-belt is just fine in my book. As long as it does the job there is no reason to shell out the cash to change over. I think it's more preference thing than anything else.
