Would 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers make a performance difference on a 275hp 327? Can you run them without guide plates?

I don't know about the guideplates. I switched my similar 327 to the stamped 1.6's when I broke one or my stock ones. I should have went with the rollers rockers. I guess I was thinking that with all the bad noises it made when it broke I wnated to spend as little as possible and see if it still worked. Once I had them on and the engine was fine I thought that was really dumb I should have took the opportunity to upgrade to the rollers. I have found very little noticable difference between the two. Biggest thing is to make sure your springs can handle the extra lift. If you don't know exatcly what cam lift and valve springs you have it can be a very stupid/expensive way to try and get just a little more torque. The little extra gain is not worth the problems you could be causing if you over-lift the springs.
