RIP Mr. Wayman Tisdale. This guy was a class act and loved by many, not just as a basketball player, but as a human being who cared about others. I did not know he was the first player in College Basketball history to be named first-team All American his freshman, sophomore & junior years. He lost his battle to a very nasty case of bone cancer. He was just 44 years old. http://oklahoma.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=946285

Yeah, I was bumped when I read about Mr. Tisdale. In this day of sports, there aren't too many out that you can look up to. He was one of them. After his basketball career, he had a second career as very successful jazz musician.

RIP

R.I.P Wayman: Great athlete and profound musician. I followed his Jazz career and enjoyed his music. Too young too soon, he will be missed. Thanks for all the music!

A great human being. He will be missed. I had no idea he was battling this cancer and just read about his untimely death this morning.

first Lakers game I went to, I got there about 2 hours early just as they were letting people in. I was one of the first through the door and was making my way up the ramp to find my seat. I heard dribbling on the court and could tell it was just one player. When I came out of the tunnel I saw Wayman out there taking some jump shots by himself; didn't even have a ball-boy with him. (I think he was with the Sac. Kings?) I made my way over there and said, "Hey, Wayman". He looked at me kinda puzzled then saw my OU SOONERS hat. His face lit up and he approached me with an open hand to shake. We talked about our home state and made some small talk then let him get back to work. I think he's still pretty high up there in the record books for most points averaged as a collegiate???

More atheletes should follow his lead on how to carry themselves. He's one of the guys that can be called a role model. He was sick for a while hopefully he accomplished most of the things he wanted.

RIP
