Probably because when you remove the third bolt the steering box could fall down and smack you on the melon.

I never ran into anything out of the ordinary when i replaced mine with the iroc box. Some had to loosen the header. Good Luck. Any problems, you've found the right place to ask for help!

I take out the top two bolts and loosen the bottom one. Remove PS hoses. Remove the bolt on the coupler attached to the steering box, remove steering box arm from cross link. The with one hand under the box and a ratchet I fininsh loosening the bottom bolt. Have a long pry bar by you in case the old coupler doesn't slide right off. Just did it myself. Oh yes, drain the steering fluid!
