69Tom May 21st, 09, 11:36 AM I don't necessarily hate white letters out, but I definitely like your car better with the black walls. I'd say without.
Nice car, by the way. Bringing my Camaro back to my parents in Phoenix soon. Looking foward to moving back one of these days. (not to my parents. to Phoenix. lol)

Nantooch May 21st, 09, 02:55 PM I think it all depends on the color and stance of the car.

NYBRIAN May 21st, 09, 06:52 PM REDLINES Will bring out the interior color and give it both an OEM and sporty look.
SS69Cam May 22nd, 09, 05:43 AM With, but Redlines would look great too.
Melrose RS May 22nd, 09, 06:31 AM with, but redlines would look great too.

'68LL327 May 22nd, 09, 09:31 AM agree that it depends on the car.
white letters out on yours.
Jonesy May 22nd, 09, 11:34 AM White letters or redlines facing out.
Blackwalls are for imports!
clwilcox33 May 22nd, 09, 11:39 AM I have to say it looks better with the white letters out. Too plain otherwise. Nice ride.
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP May 22nd, 09, 11:57 AM Black looks like do-do. White letters out.

KMG69 May 22nd, 09, 12:47 PM Looks good with the white letters.
67for/me May 22nd, 09, 06:41 PM Thanks for all the ideas guys.
Redlines would by great with the red interior But $$$$$$$$$ somthing i dont have. But i do have a set firestone Wide oval D/70/14 from Coker with about 40 miles on them that i could sell. I need F/70/14 for them to look right The D/70/14 are way to skinny about 5 inch of rubber in the road one of my should have done more research befor buying buys : (

rad454 May 22nd, 09, 06:57 PM I vote for whites out, but i'm old school and we liked to bragg about our tire selection.

markw May 23rd, 09, 05:16 AM Depends on what they say. "Goodrich T/A" good. "National Roadmaster GT" bad.
1969 RS/SS DROPTOP May 23rd, 09, 08:43 AM Depends on what they say. "Goodrich T/A" good. "National Roadmaster GT" bad.
Amen this guy knows what he is talking about!!
John65nova Jun 3rd, 09, 07:56 PM Blackwalls all the way! I don't like white letters with steel wheels and dog dish caps. The blackwalls keep with the nice simple 'all-buisiness' look of your car (which I love, BTW)! :)
I'm sure no one else will agree, but I think that black painted rims w/ dog dish caps and a thin whitewall would look good too. Of course, that doesn't help with your issue of having to clean the letters. A LOT of these cars wore whitewalls when new.
lowbuck69x11 Jun 3rd, 09, 08:45 PM BFG T/A ,s Whites Out. It's your ride, do what YOU like, not what others tell you!
zlek131 Jun 3rd, 09, 10:13 PM Depends on the setup. The white car on this thread I would say blackwalls. The red car, whites out for sure as that look fits that car. I just got new wheels/tires on my 68 and blackwalls is the only way. I think setups with big wheels/low profile tires don't look good with white lettering showing.

Thanks all. I like to hear what everyone thinks. Its allot of fun. I am going to post a help to see if anyone can photoshop some redlines on it i would love to see what it looks like.

Musclerodz Jun 3rd, 09, 11:22 PM I prefer white out but on your car without. However if redline was an option, definite yes
68IslTeal Jun 4th, 09, 05:22 AM I agree that it depends...
What the lettering says
Type of lettering - Big bold/fat letters vs. thin white outlined lettering, the difference in style is HUGE.
You could also change the color of the lettering... http://www.duplicolor.com/products/hottires.html
myty Jun 4th, 09, 05:26 AM whites.... looks best w/ your white car

With a complete stocker look like you have there,it looks silly with raised white letter,IMHO...
Tbone1989 Jun 5th, 09, 01:13 PM without its alot cleaner look for the first gen
hirpms Jun 5th, 09, 03:33 PM Black walls
Lonnie67 Jun 11th, 09, 11:09 PM Black walls. White letters detract from the perfect lines of a 1st gen, I don't think it's possible for one to look plain.
Chevy1 Jun 12th, 09, 06:24 PM For your car, RWL out. Looks sporty and era correct.
My general rule:
- 15" wheels or smaller diameter = RWL
- 16" wheels or larger diameter (hence lower profile tire) = BSW
97 CAIVIAROSS Jun 12th, 09, 06:44 PM I agree with Chevy1

The Camaro Guy Jun 13th, 09, 04:23 AM Whatever you like. If you older guys remember, most Camaros back then had whitwalls with full size hubcaps. My favorite is on my Lemans Blue RS/SS Convert. RWL on Corvette Rally Wheels, 67 short caps with a slight rake, just like they were back then.
1st 67 SS/RS Jun 17th, 09, 05:23 AM On your white car, White letters out, JMO.

impreza13 May 21st, 10, 10:20 PM seems as if though you went either way half are for and half are not but they all say either way it's sweet and just runner like you want until you can get the reds. i myself like white letters out on a factory style wheel but agree with the aftermarket bigger size not to have whites out. on your car without looked like a sleeper style which i dig but with it looked like a car we would have raced in high school which i also dig so either way my friend nice car post us on what you do. Enjoy
PRO 48 Fleetline May 22nd, 10, 12:03 AM Not no.......HELL NO
1967 Plum May 23rd, 10, 11:55 AM These cars were meant for RWL tires so long as they are 14" or 15" wheels.
But do what you like best. After all, it's your car.
Lane 68 May 30th, 10, 08:57 PM Without !!
