I'm looking to put a 454 in my car early in the early part of 2001. My husband is suggesting chambered exhaust to go along with the upgrade. I can't recall ever hearing a car with chambered exhaust & knowing what it was. Please give me any feedback you might have: thoughts, opinions & ideas all welcome!!

Every chambered exhaust I've heard has sounded like a "glass pack" muffler system. They aren't too loud a low rpm's but at high revs it is way loud for my taste. Chevy must have thought it was too loud because they discontinued the system in mid to late 69.
There are much better systems on the market today that sound better and produce more power. Just my $.02. Cary

I had chambered on my big block 69 and it is true they were nice and mellow at low RPM but you wind it up and it has that glass pack sound. Nice for my L/78 stock car but if making a hot rod then I agree there is nicer sounding and better mufflers on the market today, Flow master for one.. Just my .02 worth

I have it on mine. You can see a picture of the exhaust here. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1169124&a=8603468&p=27937560&Sequence=0&res=high

I like it, but it is loud when you open it up. It's also a conversation piece. Everyone who sees the exhaust wants to know about it. They can't believe that that was the factory exhaust. It is also more expensive than a good flowing aftermarket exhaust. It depends on how you want to present the car. Is it a period style look or a more modern look?
