Steptoe May 21st, 09, 11:35 PM You are lucky to order send back her is across the biggest ocean on the earth The bottom rad hose is and issue, so I bend up a bit of wire to shape, take the car down to the local auto spares, ignore all the local 'want a bes who have an uncles cousen boyfreinds m8 who has an orginal dodge with a 351....then go thru the selves..well they hang on racks, till find one. A XY falcon (aussie car) then chop about an inch off one end and 1/2 " off the other and it fits like a glove tgifford5 May 22nd, 09, 03:21 AM 76 400 sbc with 67 B/B aluminum radiator. Use that hose or a new one like it. The location of the lower radiator opening of the BB rad. is in the same place as the SB radiator opening. It would be the upper hose that would be different. Because the BB radiator is wider. and the opening is farther to the drivers side by 2" on the BB rad. as to the SB rad. I have a 69 that had a SB eng., SB rad. comb. I still have the SB eng. but have a BB rad. I used the same lower hose. And it fit perfict. The upper I had to use a 68 with A/C. mbmmca May 22nd, 09, 05:02 AM Yep...same engine, however, whoever worked on the car prior to me cut a hose to accomodate whatever he was doing at the time, now it is too short. (by about 4" and a few angles) tgifford5 May 22nd, 09, 08:43 AM The only thing that I can think of to make a difference would be if it has a long or short water pump. If it has a short water pump. I say go with a 67-68 lower hose for a sb. As I check out Rick's they don't list a long water pump for sb. Only short for sb and bb. As I see it a sb is a sb, it doesn't matter cubic inch size. The lower opening is in the same location bb or sb radiator. So if your current motor has a small wp go with the 67 sb lower hose. If it has a long water pump go with a 69 instead. And if I am giving bad info to Mary you motorheads out there stop me, I don't mean to. Eric Kammerer May 22nd, 09, 09:25 AM Why not just buy locally? The Napa part number for a lower hose for SBC and long water pump (alternator on passenger side) is NBH7400. The ACDelco number is 22053M. The Advance Autoparts Drive-Rite brand is C70492. Autozone sells a Goodyear 60709 (would have to be cut to length; it is molded but has a second bend at the radiator end for Ford and Chrysler applications). Steiner May 22nd, 09, 10:05 AM To get mine going, I finally had to cave and get the flexible universal hose with the spring inside. Took off a correct molded one with spring but couldn't find one with an anticollapse spring locally. DjD May 22nd, 09, 10:16 AM I second the buy locally, you can use what you have that is too short as a templet and tape cardboard in a tube shape to extend it or cut it where needed and tape cardboard in the middle. Then hit the parts counter and ask them to bring out anything close. Pick 2 or 3 hoses based on your templet, install the one that fits and return the others... mbmmca May 22nd, 09, 08:06 PM Went locally to carquest. He had a flexhose that went on perfectly. Doesn't look that great but it will do the job. It will be replaced at a later date when cosmetic facelifts are done. |
