Well guys, it's been a hell of a long road on this build. Today was the day I finally got to test drive her. She still needs lots of work, but the ability to drive it sure is something to be proud of.

Done all the work myself with little to no help. This being my first restore, I am nearly beside myself. Last weekend I was painting and this weekend it was assembly.

Yeah-yeah, I know...it needs a few things to be "done", but it was the things I either forgot or still haven't addressed. For instance, the rear seat either needs to be modified to accommodate the roll bar, or I need to build an enclosure. Then I need to get the headliner installed, get some door lock knobs, install seat belts, and a passenger window crank handle.

In time......it will be done.

Thanks for your time. Questions/comments welcome!

Just thought I'd share........

Thanks guys. I finally had the chance to get out and drive her this evening. Immediately had an engine light come on, so I put on the scanner and found a faulty O2 sensor. It turned out that I had rewired it incorrectly when all the wires got pulled out of the pigtail during the engine pull. :clonk: Fixed that, then it wouldn't start at a buddies house.....dead battery from sitting with the parking lights on and us BS for about an hour. :clonk: Then I took her out on the road again, but now I found I still have a slight high speed vibe coming from the driveshaft. not bad, but it's there and it bothers me.

Oh well, things to put on the list.

Chris!!! hows it going mang? Now that I have thing thing about buttoned up, I might be able to make it out to wrench with ya sometime.

Congrats..See you on Power Tour....

HAHA!!! I wish. nowhere near ready for a Power Tour, but it is something I have planned to do if it would ever come close to Texas. I don't want to drive a million miles to go drive another million miles, then drive another 2 million miles back home. hehehe.

Thanks again guys,

~Joe

Very nice. I like the inspection sticker... 6(June) (200)9... very fitting. I grew up in Marble Falls and spent a lot of time in Liberty Hill for baseball as a kid. I have a long way to go on my 69.

Dan, thanks man. Yeah, it seems I am the only one that noticed that....you are one of the two people that pointed that out. It's kinda a bummer that I will need to change it in a month.......it'll only be ten years till I can get another one like it. :D

Marble Falls....really? How cool. Yeah, Liberty Hill is changing every day. We now have our own sewer system now.....not so much of a small town anymore.

Where abouts are you located? I need to check out your car if your close.

Yes sir...it will be happening soon enough. I am troubleshooting a driveshaft vibration right now and will tackle that one soon after. I would imagine about a 1-2" drop would be nice dont ya think?

Tim, I have been following your thread man. Nice build going there. I have a build thread as well, but not here on Team Camaro. It's over on my local F-body board. I would have posted one here, but man, what a bunch of work to do all of that again. If you want to check it out from the beginning (13 pages and about 250 posts) CLICK HERE (http://www.afbforums.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30496).

I totally understand of how rewarding it is to actually be able to drive it under it's own power. This particular car was in a house fire.....totaled house and totaled Camaro. Below is what I started out with.....and approx 9 months later, I have what you see. All done by yours truly and I couldn't be more proud.

Thanks agian guys, Team Camaro rocks!!!

The car looks good but it could lose some altitude...i.e. lower that thing, lol

Steve, yeah man, I'm going to lower it, but honestly, how do I go upon doing that? I mean, I just had it aligned.....wouldn't lowering it call for another alignment?

Also, with the rear, it's as simple as lowering blocks and longer bolts right?

Oh damn....I should just do a search hu? lol.

Thanks man,

Joe, they are American Racing Torq-Lite's. I don't remember the backspacing, but I do know that the front wheels are 17"x7" with a 245 tire and the rears are 17"x8" with a 275 tire.

I'll try and find my BS.....somewhere.....

Joe, what is your suspension set-up right now? springs, spindles, control arms etc...?

Steve, as of now, it's stock...all of it except hotchkis springs all around. The front has 2" lowering springs and the rear has stock replacements.

I'm thinking of waiting to do the lowering thing until I can get some good tubular control arms, that way I won't have to be doing alignments all the time.

Ron, how did you drop the front end? Also, what motor do you have? I have the 2" drop Hotchkis, but I have an all aluminum LS1.

I am running the same Hotchkis 2" drop coils but have a 408 sbc with aluminum heads. Yours is a good bit lighter than mine up front.

Great project! You could do DSE drop leaves in the back to avoid lowering blocks over 1 inch tall. Good luck - Ron

Thanks for the reply Ron. Thats what I thought. Might have to trim the coil one day.

Thank you sir. Looks about like the stuff I need. I was really looking toward the split mono's tho. But at any rate, gonna have to recover from the shock this project already did to my wallet. :clonk:

Yep....your about the 15th person to tell me that. lol....you know, since I have about 300 miles on it since the picture at the beginning of this thread, it has settled very good. Here is an old pic of the springs on a different car......

It sits about like this now..........
