I researched the archives and I'm still scratching my head. Maybe some of you have run into the same problem. One of the guys here said that he pretty much always has to modify any aftermarket piece to get it to work on his car. HE WAS RIGHT! The only thing I have installed with no modification so far is the pilot bushing.
The alternator bracket I have looks correct. I did have to bend the ear that attaches to the intake manifold so it would lay flat. It may not be the problem but I cant be sure. The alternator is correct and thats all I can guarantee at this point.
The lower bracket is bolted in and limits how far out the alternator can go. It lines up with the pulleys at this point, but to get the upper bracket lined up and flat against the alternator top pinch flange will mean mis aligining everything else.
The car came with a small block so I am in open water here with no pic's to refer to.

Is this what you're using?

I just took these pics. I'm trying to figure out why the top bracket doesnt work. The bottom bracket limits the alt being moved toward the rad anymore. I can always adjust the alt pulley but the top bracket seems to be the culprit. I'm hoping someone will recognize whether the top bracket is correct or not.

Thats what I thought. It all makes sense now why I see the original parts sell for so much more than the reproduction stuff. You get what you pay for. Thanks for the input.
