Thanks for the suggestions on the vacuum leak. Has anyone tried the street avenger carbs by Holley. I am thinking about trying the 870 on my big block and was wondering if anyone has tried one or has heard anything good or bad about them. thanx wnk.

I am running a Sreet Avenger on my 383
I have had some problems with it and have been it contact with Holley. They are next to impossible to get to warrenty the carb.
Last thing I was told was to send them the carb and they would look at it. I was also told that unless you bought it from a Holley recognized dealer they would not warrenty it.
Be careful if you bye it on E-bay, there are many dealers selling there that are not recognized by Holley. Anyway if the carb does not check out and they confirm the dealer that I bought it from than they will send a replacement that has been tested(may not be new). They would not check the dealer that I bought from until I sent them the carb. All this would take 3 or 4 weeks.
I would not recommend buying a Street Avenger

Why not try the Elderbrock 850 cfm carb it runs excellent on a Big Block & is easy to live with on the Street, I perfer them over a Holley, I just traded my 3310-1 Holley to a 750 cfm Elderbrock & love it.

I have a street avenger 770 on my 383 as well, and have been happy with it. It has never given me any trouble. Its real smooth throughout me taching the motor. They may be hard to warrenty with, but how many high performance companies are easy to work with?

Just my little vote for it.

I've had good luck with the Avengers I've installed.

Other than the usual jetting/power valve tuning, I've found it necessary to go beyond the max lean stops on the electric choke adjustment.

Even though I think they are somewhat overpriced, I'd recommend them. Once they are dialed, they stay that way for a long time.

My 770 worked like a charm out of the box. I thought I had a problem by the secondaries not opening fully up but turns out I'm slightly over carbed for my 355. I guess that's the beauty behind these vac sec carbs. if you go too big they will only give what the motor is calling for. (can sometimes hurt your low end responsiveness some) Rejetted the primaries and has good throttle response and buzzes to 7200 no problem. If I had problems with mine the first place I'd go is to my supplier. Good luck - Barry
