CMQuickcoupe Jul 6th, 09, 08:24 PM sure it will be a few days before i can the car is at my buddies house awaiting the block sanding and sealer.
no problem, whenever you get a chance is good for me,I'm not in a big hurry. Thanks again
BirdOnNos Jul 20th, 09, 06:54 PM ok the car is back at the house, the outside has been blocked and sealed, the body lines look great on the car thanks to REX, the door jams, trunk and hood jams have been painted the color of the car (black) and cleared. also the interior metal has been sealed and the dash has been painted black and cleared. so the car will go back for final paint after i finish working under the hood of the car and doing the wiring. i want to work on the car before it gets painted to keep from leaning on a fresh paint job while working on the car. you can notice i have a 3 inch drop up front, i used the lower tubular a-arms to get a 2 inch drop along with 1 inch lowering springs, i still have to pull the gas tank, rearend, and leaf springs, once they are out i will be sanding, painting, and replacing them, i will also be installing the rear disk brakes at that time and lowering the rear of the car 3 inches. well enough talk here are the pics.

i just like the look of the 4 inch cowl hood, plus the car is getting a magnacharger at the first of next year, been tough trying to start from the bottom up, money only allows alil at a time.
BirdOnNos Aug 3rd, 09, 12:58 PM ok here is a lil update, i been sanding alot of rearend parts, waiting on rearend parts, painting rearend parts, and i am tired of 41 year old rearends. anyway the underside back half of the car has been sanded to metal and undercoated with 3m undercoating, rex did the front half, the rearend has been taken to metal and repainted, along with the gas tank. i ended up having to get new rear leaf springs as one of them was broken. i worked on the fuel system today and got that finished up. more pictures will come as i begin to install the leaf springs and rearend. enjoy

BirdOnNos Aug 5th, 09, 02:55 PM ok i had the day off and thought i would try to make some progress on the car today, i got more done than i thought i would and it wasn't to bad considering i worked on it by myself. i did get the rearend installed and the rear disk brakes and lines, next step is to bleed the brakes so that will be done along with the fuel system. i ordered 1 7/8 ceramic coated headers for the car and they have a 2 week wait period so it looks like there will be a lil break period before i can do anything else to the car. ok onto the pics.

68problemchild Dec 1st, 09, 04:49 PM Beautiful. How did you get the headers past the stearing box?
BirdOnNos Dec 1st, 09, 05:16 PM i had to remove the steering box then reinstall, it was no biggie plenty of room under that side.
68problemchild Dec 1st, 09, 06:47 PM Brake booster looks new. Did you have to swap it? Trying to add up my costs here for project.
Very inspirational.
Thanks.
BirdOnNos Dec 1st, 09, 06:49 PM yeah the brake booster is new, everything is new, i just got in from the garage as i was installing my transcooler and transmission lines and figuring out how i am gonna do the air intake piping. the radiator is in along with the fans and here is a picture of the custom radio and guage pod i made, the computer is hooked up along with the fuel pump, still need to wire the fans which is all that is left as far as wiring. i pulled the tune out of the computer and started me a base tune to get it fired up. i still need to install the plugs, plug wires, and all fluids. then i need to have a driveshaft made. getting very close to firing it up for the first time, i will take a vid of the first fire off. stay tuned.

Tell us a about it!
BirdOnNos Dec 7th, 09, 04:02 PM well it was a test fire with open headers, got all the fluids installed along with plugs and plug wires and fired it up to see what it sounded like, of course i didn't have the intake piping complete or the 02's installed but it was nice to hear it for about a whole 30 or 45 seconds before i shut it down. i will post a vid once the intake pipes are done and a few more small details to the engine bay are complete.
BirdOnNos Dec 15th, 09, 06:48 PM ok fellas here is a video of the car on its second startup, i still need to install my 02's but it is cold here in memphis and i have no heat in the garage so i think it may sit until it starts to warm up again. so close i can't wait, i have enjoyed working on the car this far but i am dreading installing the chrome around the windows and all the weather stripping and felts, this is something i have never done. i have been looking for posts to try to get a idea of what i will have to do. my paint guy is waiting on me, he wanted to paint the car back in october but i want to wait until i am done leaning over the car. well heres the vid its not very long but you get the idea. the camera reduced the sound some so turn up your volume alittle.

That is straight up sweet! I plan on doing a 6.0 based LS motor as well in my 68'. Been seeing some awesome numbers with the right cam and LS6 or even L92 heads. Good luck and keep the updates coming to motivate me.
K and K Dec 23rd, 09, 10:12 PM Awesome! Thanks for taking the time to video.

Blown 67 Jun 29th, 10, 12:33 PM Nice. Nothing like the smell of fresh paint. It'll stay with you for a while. Every time I visit a body shop I'm reminded of my restoration years ago.
BA. Jun 30th, 10, 11:34 AM such a good feeling to have a painted car 'back home'! :)
BirdOnNos Jun 30th, 10, 01:06 PM i would agree still have a way to go but its finally down to the easy stuff, i would have much rather been just doing a lsx swap than a total groundup resto and ls swap, but at least i know the car will be brand new when done. i can't wait to start enjoying it and driving it.
DOUG G Jun 30th, 10, 02:56 PM Who droped the LS motor in ? How hard was it....really :)
The car looks great :beers:

me and my pops put the motor in, it was real easy being we had the whole front cap off took about 30 mins or so to drop it in place and bolt the motor mounts and transmission crossmember up. i did the powersteering mod, headers, all the wiring, ect whenever time allowed. nothing so far has been overbearing or too tough to do as i am a internet/forum taught mechanic and have been working on my own cars since i was around 18 i am now 33. hardest thing for me was all the sanding on the car i hated that as for the rest it was fun for me and i enjoy seeing it come together, nothing beats that except seeing it finished and enjoying it. i had a plan from the start on what order i was going to do things to make the job easiest for me, all in all i say a good plan ahead of time will save you alot of hassle and time. if anyone has any questions during your build shoot me a email birdonnos@aol.com and maybe i can help ya out
