View Full Version : HP and track time predictions for my BBC 69
69_OMEN_CAMARO Jun 7th, 09, 06:12 PM hey guys im just curious how much wheel hp, andwhat kinda track times should i expect for my current set up, its a temp set up but im interested in what you guys think since some of you may know first hand, i did the compcams camquest thing it said about 430hp/~500tq to the crank, the builder of my long block did a desktop dyno with the engine analyzer plus v3.0 program and came up with 477hp/520tq to the crank but thats with optimal conditions and 110 octane. now that i got all of the mechanical parts of the car set in place im wondering how im looking especially since i know i wont make it to the track anytime soon so help me out guys, ill try to give you as much info as i can!:hurray::beers:

hirpms Jun 7th, 09, 06:35 PM I think you may be running 330-350hp to the rear wheels. Probably high 11s to low 12s.
69_OMEN_CAMARO Jun 7th, 09, 06:59 PM cool cool, i heard similar things, come on guys i want to hear more! haha :beers:

I agree^.Low compression 433 utilizing high velocity oval port heads and a suited cam profile like you have should get you there. My only question is the custom 2400 stall converter.Hopefully it flashes to at least 3k.I ran a 2400 behind a 500hp 427 and it was a turd out of the hole.Hughes hooked me up with a street/strip 3500 and I never looked back.
69_OMEN_CAMARO Jun 7th, 09, 08:21 PM thanx im liking what im hearing so far, keep it coming! haha
Steve69SS396 Jun 7th, 09, 09:44 PM Should go low 12's. I might be going with some friends this Friday night. Let me know if you're going. :beers:

i wish i could go anytime soon, still need to slap in the rear firewall/bulkhead, and my battery is in the trunk and is bolted thru just the sheetmetal but i added 3/8 strips of metal across all the bolts underneath, its on there really good, do you think they will give me crap at tech? or does it really need to be to a frame member? im talking bout sac raceway:beers:

You should be fine. My battery hold down goes through sheet metal and uses large washers to spread the load.

Skeeter55 Aug 2nd, 09, 06:49 PM Damian,
Looks good nice passes car went nice and straight but it looks like you were holding back on rpm... What rpm did you launch, shift and threw the traps...
Front end looks to stiff but so is mine for the street beast.
69_OMEN_CAMARO Aug 2nd, 09, 07:52 PM yea my first few passes i was going off idle and then about at 1k, the 12.1 run i went close to 2k and it was moving, im shifting at ~5800 (limiter at 6k) and threw the traps im like at 5800 in 3rd, the front is actually pretty loose, disconnected the front sway bar, loosen the end links and the arms, got CE front drag shocks at 90/10, hard to tell front the vids but in the car i feel the front end lift, and i hooked everytime, if i woulda got 1 more shot i woulda went off idle and flash the converter, cant wait for next time when i get tuned at the track:beers:

Seams like that 427 has alot more rpm's in her, but i understand about not letting it all hang out on the first day. I my self haven't been to the track and may not for a long time, but ive played with some friends and there low 11's. Ill just say that even with a 4-speed it kicks but especially when you have to speed shift to hang with the big boys. My buddy's ask me if i even let up on the gas when i shift and i said NO:D. Poor 4-speed only has a few more hard hits to go before i have to slap in a TKO600 but im broke and it will have to wait...
rad454 Aug 2nd, 09, 08:17 PM Damian,
Cool video, thanks for sharing!! Just a matter of time before your into the 11's.
RSCopo Aug 3rd, 09, 03:45 PM Very cool, Damian! What was the air like that night? If it was'nt good, you might run in the 11's in good air without any changes. Great job!
69_OMEN_CAMARO Aug 3rd, 09, 07:24 PM yea thanx i also think 11's is possible too, i wanted to do a even harder launch but ran out of time, and i still need to get my carb tuned by sum1 who is highly reccommed by all around here, steve knows who im talking about...
