View Full Version : New Best!1/8 and 1/4
NC69RS Oct 25th, 03, 04:37 PM I typically run the 1/8 mile but ran the 1/4 last night and I'm very happy with the results! It went 6.88 at 99.47 and 10.88 at 122.41 on the last pass, previous best in the 1/8 was 7.00 at 98.1. I was surprised at the increase, I changed to a 3.73 from a 4.10 gear since the last time out. Not to bad for a small block pump gas street car at 3400# with driver.

1.49 60'time Excellent time! graemlins/beers.gif Also what cam are you running?
NC69RS Oct 25th, 03, 05:29 PM I dont have the part # right off hand but the specs. are Comp Cam 250/260 @50 and 534/555 lift and I run a 1.6 rocker on the intake.
Fuji Oct 25th, 03, 06:18 PM Impressive 60' times! I have a pair of the same tires sitting in the garage waiting to be mounted. Would you recommend them?

6D9 Oct 25th, 03, 08:53 PM Killer times man!!! Sounds like a real animal..What wheel and backspacing are you running to fit those tires?? Will they work with 15x8's with 4.5 bs??
BigRed-L72 Oct 26th, 03, 05:04 AM graemlins/thumbsup.gif What are your shift points from start to finish? Those Canfield heads work good. Are they stock?
NC69RS Oct 26th, 03, 07:24 AM Thanks guys, I'm pretty impressed myself.
Fuji: I highly recommend these tires, not much difference than the ET streets but a little more consistant.
6D9: I run 5" backspacing with a 8.5 " rim and a 1/4 inch spacer to keep from rubbing on the inner fender. I have room on the outer lip so they sbould fit unless you car sits low in the back.
BigRed: I shift at 6500 and cross the line about 6600. I had these heads on a 350 out of the box and broke a rod and damaged some valves, so had a valve job done and some slight bowl work.
Eric68 Oct 26th, 03, 03:04 PM NC69RS, Very impressive. graemlins/thumbsup.gif I am building an engine very similar for a friend this winter (same stall, gears, etc) and we were hoping for 11.5's or better.
Was wondering a couple things about that cam . . .
What is your idle speed like? (in gear / neutral)
Do you by chance have a cranking compression number for your engine? Just curious what the 285* advertised duration (if it's the cam I'm thinking about) does with a 106 ICL and pump gas.
Thanks
NC69RS Oct 26th, 03, 03:20 PM Motor idles at 950rpm in gear and about 1100rpm out. Sorry, have never checked cranking compression. I had this cam in another 406 in a previous car I owned and liked its performance and sound so much I used it again. I would recommend it.
Lonnie67 Oct 26th, 03, 05:57 PM Nice ET! Is your cam installed advanced? What total timing are you running? That is a pretty high DCR for pump gas, have you tried using or mixing some race gas? What brand torque converter are you running? Sorry for all the questions, thanks.
Lonnie
thrasher Oct 26th, 03, 06:20 PM You ran a 10.88 at 122 with that combo.
If there was no juice-That's stout.
What is the part number of that cam???
NC69RS Oct 27th, 03, 06:51 AM Cam is advanced 4 deg., Total timing 35 deg., yes I have mixed with 100 octane unleaded when its summer time and hot and humid. The converter is a TCI 10" RACE.
Cam part # 12-609-5
And yes, NO NITROUS!!!!
CamaroJSU Oct 27th, 03, 07:14 AM NC69 what length rod are you running. Great times and keep up the good work graemlins/beers.gif
NC69RS Oct 27th, 03, 10:50 AM Thanks! Crank and rods are eagle forged crank and 6" H-beam, internally balanced with flat tops.
68ps383 Oct 28th, 03, 04:48 PM Those numbers are great! Are you using a trans brake or foot braking it? also what rpm do you leave at.
NC69RS Oct 29th, 03, 09:02 AM Footbraking, leaving at 3000.
travis Oct 30th, 03, 08:35 AM Do you prefer white, or wheat bread? Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper?
