i will be running a solid cam in my 377, i was given a new set of moroso oil restrictors. first question... should i run them? car will be mostly street driven, 6 qt oil pan with windage tray, will probably see 7000 rpm on occasion at the strip. next question. the instructions are missing, they come with 4 o-rings, does each restrictor use 2 o-rings at the same time? or are 2 for spares?

Freak (?),
I would not run the oil restrictors on a street driven motor. The valve springs need as much oil as they can get to keep them cool so they will live. The restrictors are ok on a race motor that only gets run a minute or so.
Hope this helps,

dont run oil restrictors , use a milodon #32250 windage screen that helps return oil to the oilpan quickly instead, oil restrictors are a bad answer to a problem of not enough oil for the bearings, if you use a good oilpan and windage screen high volume oil pump combo the problem will not exist! look here, http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=7665&prmenbr=76

I agree with these guys.
Stay away from restricters for all but drag
only engines.

thanks a bunch guys, this is the kind of stuff that makes this site great, I'll throw them in the tool box and not use them. I was a little skeptical about using them anyway. thanks again. David

grumpyvete, i would like to use the milodon diamod stripper windage tray, but it is listed as not fitting a 400. since i will have a 400 block, but will be using a 350 crank, will it fit. does it not fit a 400 because of the crank throws or are the main bolts spaced different on a 400 than on a 350? David

it fits IF you open up the mounting bolt holes in the windage screen about 1/8" more each to the outside edge, the bolts in a 400sbc are spaced about an 3/16" further apart than on a 350 chevy
