I have a 1968 camaro that I have began to put back together and have found and over the past few days I have been going over every inch of the wiring making sure the connections are good as well as the condition of the wire is ok. So far everything is where it should be but there is one wire I can't seem to figure out. It's a silver wire covered with a cloth braided material that runs from the harness to a "c" conector where a yellow wire joins then goes to the negitive on the batt. So basically looks like a ground but for what and why the "c" connector like it should be attached to something???
Thanks!

Sound like a resister wire for points ignition.

Welcome to TC!
That sounds like the ignition feed to the + side of the coil. The cloth covered wire is a resistance wire, with the voltage drop as it heats up. The less than 12V feed keeps the points from burning up. The yellow wire goes from the + side of the coil to the R terminal on the starter, and provides a full 12V to the ignition when cranking.

yup, resistor wire, if you have HEI or non points distributor get rid of it!
whoever wired up my camaro before me was using the resistor wire as the 12v source for the HEI coil
although it didnt do anything bad for me, it can make the ignition really weak

I am using the 6L msd ignition and the blaster 2 coil so with that setup how to wire it mentioned above still works?

I believe the Mallory Unilight still uses the resistor while the MSD distributors do not.

Mallory or any CD Transistorized Modular Ignition has very little resistance compared to the old Points Trigger and Ignition Wire Powered Coil and makes no difference if the Ignition Wire is a Solid Wire, Resister Wire or uses a Ballast Resister. Just put you hand on the Resister Wire or Ballast Resister - Does it get Warm like a Points Triggered Coil - NO, because it has no or very little resistance. If you are using a Points Distributer (with or with out a CD Module) you should use a Resister Ignition Wire.
The CD Module is powered by the RUN Circuit which in turn delivers the Hi-Voltage to the Coil. The Ignition Wire simply triggers the Hi-Voltage.
