Im having a problem with my carb leaking fuel.

When the engine is running there is no leak. Once the car is shut off fuel will start to leak out the base plate of the carb and drip down onto the manifold.

Initially I thought that it may have been just a few loose screws on the carb however when I disconnect the fuel line there was way too much pressure and gas sprayed all over the top of the motor.

Any thoughts on what would cause this? Sounds like a fuel pump problem to me but I would to get some opinions.

Thanks.

Its nothing special. Its a mild 327 with a edelbrock performer manifold with a 600 holley carb. Stock fuel pump. No spacer or anything like that.

The set up hasnt changed in 2 years. This is the first time I have every had this type of problem.

Possible that you just have dirt in the needle and seat and the pressure is the same it has been all along? You can put an inline pressure tester in to check the fuel pump pressure.
