View Full Version : Please rate my paint
jr68 Jun 16th, 09, 12:24 AM I changed up my paint and added some black to it. But I'm wondering if I made the right move or not. What I need is your feed back , since I respect the opinions of the guys on this forum as much as the ones from my best buds. So let me have it I'm a big boy.
Dougs72Nova Jun 16th, 09, 12:27 AM I like it Jerry! Looks great!
jr68 Jun 16th, 09, 12:38 AM Thanks Doug:beers:
69z28freak Jun 16th, 09, 01:03 AM Very unique. Reminds me of the Smokey Yunick 68. Only with White instead of gold. I was think of doing mine with Silver.
HwyStarJoe Jun 16th, 09, 04:50 AM
SPARKY69 Jun 16th, 09, 05:03 AM Looks good!!!!
67z28 Jun 16th, 09, 05:28 AM I like it, except for the small white stripe left on the nose and trunk lid. I would have wanted that black also.
rlyfst1 Jun 16th, 09, 06:35 AM It's a great color combo, and good color choice for the separating color stripe. The only thing I would change is, like mentioned before where to end the front and rear of the black and how far down the quarters to carry it. At the end of the day it's personal taste. Nice job.
captcanuck68 Jun 16th, 09, 06:37 AM I like it, except for the small white stripe left on the nose and trunk lid. I would have wanted that black also.
Same perspective here, Jer.

Icemans_67 Jun 16th, 09, 06:57 AM It looks good even if its not a 67...
SPARKY69 Jun 16th, 09, 07:16 AM I like it, except for the small white stripe left on the nose and trunk lid. I would have wanted that black also.ya i would of brought that to the edge's!!
keypilot Jun 16th, 09, 07:38 AM a little Chip Foose, but i like it too. good job.
impzilla Jun 16th, 09, 07:43 AM I like the small line at the front. Looks good to me...
jr68 Jun 16th, 09, 08:52 AM Thanks for all the feedback guys,
The reason I left the white on the nose was to define the shape of the nose and not lose the line and let it blend into the black grille. I saw one done like that on the cover of a Classic industries catalog and didnt like it.
Where I got the idea was from a 2010 Camaro done like this in Hot Rod, it was a Dale jr. edition.
SHIFTY4 Jun 16th, 09, 09:21 AM just my opinion but i like the white areas front & rear... gives the eye a starting place for appreciation of the color scheme... if that makes any sense.
great job !!! ;)
sleepsinshed Jun 16th, 09, 09:31 AM Two thumbs up!:thumbsup:
tgifford5 Jun 16th, 09, 10:15 AM I like the two-tone. I have been thinking of going this route when I do body and paint this winter. It gives us all something nice to look at. I would have gone with other colors but that is my choice. I think you have done a very nice job and you should be proud of your car.
okiemark Jun 16th, 09, 10:51 AM Jerry: I like the 2 tone look. Probably would have gone with silver to seperate the 2 main colors. But, that's the beauty of these cars. Muscle cars can handle "bold" stripes and colors like yours. Now, what's wierd is I was going through some old photos of my '68 being restored and saw this pic which caught my eye. It just so happed the top of the car was stripped and I liked the look of a potential black top coming down a little to the very top of the fender and possibly designing a stripe that goes forward. I have since decided not to go that rout, this car now has a "stinger hood" and that's enough flair for me.

Melrose RS Jun 16th, 09, 11:02 AM Generally, I don't like two-tone cars. I don't like white cars because white softens the edges and contours. I never dug the Foose-style. BUT that's just me...
I've never seen a two-tone Camaro before(other than Smokey's) and I do think it would certainly draw my attention and stand out at a show. Art is subjective and it's refreshing to see something different. Based on that I give you  AND I believe you will get lots of positive comments on it.
The only thing I would change is maybe add a script on the fender or chrome lower fender moulding spear to break up the white sides a little. If you are anti-chrome, maybe paint a Camaro script in on the fender.
Old baldguy Jun 16th, 09, 11:42 AM Looks very nice Jerry ,better on a 1st Gen than on Dale jr' edition 2010,enjoy and Happy Motoring
smits67 Jun 16th, 09, 12:26 PM Looks great to me. One thing about our hobby that I like; Each person brings his/her style to the table.
Your car is nicely done.
SixtyAte Jun 16th, 09, 02:37 PM Jerry...
I like the look! White cars need some type of paint work to make it stand out. I agree that a painted or decal script "Camaro" on the fenders using the black and orange trim would look great on there.

I saw that car here in Phoenix at PIR last November. Loved it! It was a grey metallic. I think you did a great job of carrying it over to your car. I prefer the grey a little more than solid black since there's a little less contrast and shows the body lines a little more.

wiskeesour Jun 16th, 09, 05:13 PM Very KEWL. Youve broken the paint up nicely. Its not something you see everyday, you know?
Thats what were after, well, most of us. :D
draddog69 Jun 16th, 09, 05:15 PM Black and white... are you a cop? Seriously looks great!:beers:
Lost in the 60's Jun 16th, 09, 06:05 PM I like the 2 tone, it catches the eye but my preference would've been a charcoal grey also. I'm anti-black at this time in my life...:) The Orange stripe evokes a "Harley" theme and I don't see me using that as the color break, but If YOU like it, that's what counts.
You and your paint guy did a terrific job on this and you can be proud of what you have...
from64impala Jun 16th, 09, 06:16 PM i love it you need some better rims to bring the paint and car out a lot more
sawabunch Jun 16th, 09, 06:23 PM It looks great, I wouldn't change the wheels. I like what you've done, something you don't see at every show.
Car nut Jun 16th, 09, 07:43 PM It looks good to me. My question is are you happy with it? Thats the main thing.Brian.
Zulu28 Jun 16th, 09, 08:08 PM Not so sure that I dig it.... I mean it does look mean on the 09 but I'm not sure that I am sold...maybe with an RS package on the front I would feel differently...
erik67ssrs Jun 16th, 09, 08:29 PM I like it, except for the small white stripe left on the nose and trunk lid. I would have wanted that black also.

Yep it does make sense, and thanks.

Actually I tried a silver stripe first and it was kind of invisible, so I stuck with the Earnhardt stripe.
Black and white... are you a cop? Seriously looks great!:beers:
no , a machinist ;)

Mitch, I was originally wanting charcoal but my painter assured me black would look better.

Chrome is in the future

At first I was like "what have I done ?" but it's growing on me.

I'm saving for an RS grille :)

sneakey pete Jun 16th, 09, 09:48 PM I like the look quite a bit. I think if you took it farther down the sides it would look too much like a Chip Foose job,not that thats a bad thing but still looks like your own original design the way it is now. The only thing I'd maybe try would be to play with the side of the cowl with a white side trimed with the red. Just to break up the big black hood. Just a silly suggestion but what you have now is pretty friggen awsome so I would hate to see you mess it up.

Thanks, and I only came down the panel 1/4" so I wouldn't lose the look of the high crown in the fenders.
69camaroinia Jun 17th, 09, 09:56 AM I like your paint. I also like the stance of your car. Tough---the way a muscle car should be.
What size are your wheels and tires?
Nice paint.

Rear 275/60/15 BFG on 15x8 Torque Thrust
cencal69 Jun 17th, 09, 04:04 PM I think a new set of wheels would be the trick into setting off that car. I'll try a photo chop tomorrow (I'm a rookie, so don't get your hopes up).

Cool , can you do Torque Thrust 2 ? ( chrome ) or some similar chrome wheels.
tmannet Jun 17th, 09, 08:25 PM I love it...yeah some more chome would really set off the black. RS hidden headlight grille would also be a stunning combination. You could photoshop a RS grille on to preview it before actually doing it. I'll bet this car looks awesome going down the street!
Chevy1 Jun 18th, 09, 08:06 PM Looks good overall, may look better with less contrasting colors.
ORENCH Jun 21st, 09, 06:10 PM >> Hey bro, I like it, specially cause of a dare to be diffrent approach. Just one question, are the front and rear white edges the same width? I see the rear wider, and I'd like them to be the of the same width. JMO:beers:
jr68 Jun 21st, 09, 07:20 PM Thanks Terry, Chevy1 and Orench,
Both those lines should be the same, I'll measure and get back ;)
and Happy Fathers day !
