I have a crack in the upper flat part of my dash in a 68 that is 1.5-2" long that runs from side to side of the dash. How can I fix this since it is the only problem area of the dash? Another question is what will penetrate the vinyl to help soften it so no other cracks appear? We have a guy come around some that fixes rips and damage to the used cars interiors and I could try him but there is no telling when he will come again. Any good tricks that work.....

Get a hold of some plastic bumper fixing compound at a store that sells body repair supplies. Ruff up the crack and apply a coat of the compound smooth with plastic body filler squeegee. Best if you can do both sides for strength. Sand smooth and paint.
