View Full Version : Urethane primer v.s. epoxy primer chuckboy7 Jun 19th, 09, 05:07 PM Any input guys..?? painting my firewall and eng. bay to match the outside for now.I want to change the car color a few years down the road and all I hear and read is about epoxy primer. 6781camaro Jun 19th, 09, 06:50 PM From what I have learned recently, epoxy-primer is an outstanding way to preserve bare metal for long term. Urethane primer is an excellent way to protect metal that has been treated with self-etching primer or metal prep. If you use an epoxy primer over the self-etch or metal prep, the acids in those chemicals will eventually react with the epoxy causing terrible results. Hope this helps...but I am not nearly an expert on primers. |
