Was reading another thread about classic car insurance and now I'm concerned. I don't remember there being a mileage restriction when I got my coverage with Hagerty. I remember asking them about it and coming away with the impression I was "ok" just driving on weekends and car shows. Man, I hope I'm not in trouble. Just my luck, they're closed and it's the weekend! ugh! Anyone else have Hagerty that can give me some imput?

What does Haggert say ??????? I would think they would be the ones to give you the correct answer.

Bill, as I stated, they are closed for the day and I'm not at home to look at my policy. Their website doesn't give specifics regarding mileage.

The only time Hagerty will as you about miles driven is when you fill out an application. They may base your rate in part on your reply, they may base if you qualify on your reply as well. I've had Hagerty coverage for about 8 years, told them less than 4000 miles a year and that's the last the subject has come up. They are only looking for assurance that you use your classic as intended for teh coverage you pay for.

If at all possible have your regular ins guy set up your policy with Hagerty for you and you won't get trapped in their initial screening process with an incorrect answer...

Dennis... that sounds familiar now. My car had 46,500 original when I got it about a year and 3 months ago, just turned 50,400. Of course, I didn't plan on even putting that many miles on it but you know how that can change. thanks.

The mileage limits vary by state with all the agreed value policies. BTW, if you already HAVE Hagerty just read your policy. If in CA they are allowed by law to restrict your driving it will be clearly stated in the policy.

I live in CA. I think I chose the 5000-7500 range and they were very flexible in the mileage and can let you move brackets at any time. I went overkill simply because I wanted to not worry about it and I don't really have any idea how much I'll drive it when I finish my car :)

since Hagerty and others dont ask for mileage reading every year, there is no way for them to know how many miles you drive. I was told less than 5,000 BUT you can go over if its for car show type trips and such. I wouldnt worry about it unless they start to document mileage each year at premium renewal.

just to be on the safe side, I decided to put the car up, which stinks because later I drove my truck over to a restaurant and they had a little car show going. The only cars there were a '67 and '68 Camaro. I guess my car would have been the hat-trick for first gens

I've had them since 1994....no limits. However, my car won't see 1000 miles a year.

thanks guys, I called today (Saturday) and they confirmd there is no "limit". they just don't want it being a daily driver or even a "back up" vehicle, is the way he explained it to me.

they didnt ask me so i didnt tell how many miles il drive it.they just said no drag racing.i worried last night when i raced hoping nothing would go wrong

Hagerty does ask what your other 'regular' driver is so I give them my Tahoe info. that shows them that you have other modes of transportation and most likely you are not putting 20,000 miles a year on a collector car. :)

My Hagerty policy has no mileage restrictions.
