I want to restore my grill for the Nova. The grill seems to be either die cast or aluminum, not sure. Is there anything you guys can recommend to safely get the paint off?

Thanks. What do you think about a product called Aircraft remover made by Klean-strip? I wonder if it's to harsh?

Try Easy Off oven cleaner. Try to put it in a large trash bag to "soak" and not dry out. It may take a couple of times.

The Nova does look good in the pictures. What is planned for it?

Mine Gary? Mechanically - a new trans, new headers, the AC rebuilt and re-installed. Interior - a new headliner, new dash pad, new dash without the radio cut out of it, door panels and trim. Paint and body - broken fender bolts fixed a new core support, front clip aligned and the hood and trunk straightened. Then there is some paint peeling where you can't see it that is heading for visible spaces. There is a lot I can work on without spending for parts, it's hard to get movated when I know if I start something it will leave a negative impact on the car until the money items can be undertaken...

That's just a partial list, when I finally find work it won't take long to whip things out... A transmission and it's cruzin ready and I may have something going with that real soon...

I was going to say that, I stripped all the paint off all my emblems, grille, tail lamps, everything with regular old lacquer thinner.

I just restored the grill on my 68. I used paint remover from home depot. It worked great on the light bezels but not that great on the grill moldings. Sand paper did the trick on the moldings. The actual plastic part of the grill insert I washed under pressure really good and scuffed up as much as I could with steel wool pad. Here is the thread in case you're interested how it turned out.
