Well, I've brought up everything there is to bring up about my stinger hood except putting stripes over it (Z-28 stripes). I have decided against a black vinyl top, so the car will be daytona yellow front to back. the question is: go with a black stinger and no stripes, or yellow stinger with the black stripes over the hood and deck. It's really a matter if the stripes will "fit", or look awkward over a stinger (take away the shape...) Oh, if any of you can computer generate stripes over the stinger, feel free. Lane Ochi are you there??
NOTE: yes, the stinger hood will be opened to allow air flow

OK Mark, even I have limits. NO Z-28 stripes over a stinger hood. If you want to have a unique looking 68, the stinger will set it aside from most of the other cars you see out there, so why try to hide it under stripes?

After thinking about it, i think i would just do the Corvette scheme and nothing else. It will look cleaner that way all around.

Lane: I'm a big fan of stripes and I really like the race look. I agree that the stinger is enough. It's on the car regardless. I liked how you put it "Hide under stripes"... That's exactly what I'm wanting to find out. if that's what it looks like, I won't do it. That's what I meant by "fitting". Either it will or it won't. Thanks.

This is the only style stripe I would put on a stinger hood  :

Everybody gotta have Z/28 stripes on their Camaros ... Not every Camaro came with Z/28 stripes (hmmmm) ... Think about it ... Lose the hood, or lose the stripes ... But I aggree that the stinger hood should have the stinger stripes ...

Best way to eyeball the alignment on your car would be to stick one end of a roll of tape to the top of the lip of the cowl vent grille panel, and then pull it straight forward. The outer edge of the pinstripe on the Z28 stripes around the lip of the recessed grille openings is roughly 3/4 inch from the lip, so a piece of 3/4 inch tape pulled forward would show you where the outer edge of both the pinstripe and main stripe would fall, roughly,

The drawing in the 68 AIM has the stripe dimensions based completely on the cowl grille vent panel; the recess is stripe color, then the outer pinstripe goes around on top. Once that was laid out, the lines got pulled forward parallel to the hood peak.

I think you'll find that the inner edges of both stripes would run up onto the sides of the peak before the scoop, and would look weird.

Decision is in: No stripes. Hopefully that will be my last bone-head idea before this car gets painted.

Good, just so you don't change your mind.

I really had to force myself to do this, yuck.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was trying to describe it looking like. Not good.

Either a solid color or the Stinger gets paint. Only two ways

Sir, a thought occured to me yesterday ... There was a stripe that was used on the Camaros ... It was that bumble bee stripe (1968) which then carried up onto the hood (1969's) ... Not the SS stripe or the Z/28 stripe ... Not the Yenko either, (but that wouldn't be bad to carry through the stinger) ... It is that Fouth one used on 1969's ... Maybe, if you used that stripe scheme and then carried that into the Corvette style stinger hood stripe, well ? ... Just a thought ...

What about a stinger paint job like photo in post #5 and then matching Z stripes on the rear deck?

Mine is getting one just like post#5 and it's not getting it on the stinger part just the cowl part and not down the front part of the cowl just opening width back. Car is going two tone top will be gloss black with a single flat black stripe on the cowl part of the stinger.

How about two stripes (Z type) up on top of the scoop part and the lower stinger part painted with the wider stripes on back of car.
