hey guys
i have read a few older articles about people struggling with new weatherstripping being installed on there camaros.
Recently i made a trip to classic industries and bought a set of OEM door weatherstripping to install. guess what same problems.....when installed doors arent shutting properly and huge gaps are being created around the back of the door and along the bottom. i adjusted the doors as much as possible and still no better.is there any ways around making this weatherstripping fit? or do i have to bite my tongue and buy a different brand? :(

After you install new door seals leave you door closed for a while. You will have larger door gaps initially. It will take weeks or months to finally settle in!

This happened to me, and I used Metro. I had my doors aligned money, and after the weatherstrip install, they are sucked in at the top and pushed out at the bottom.

I even left the strikers out and rachet strapped the doors shut for two days before putting the strikers in and lining up. You might try that method to help break them in.

I'm still working on it. I'll let you know if I can help when I work on them this weekend. Good luck, Brian

I used Metro and had no such problem...yeah they closed a bit harder at first but within a few weeks work really nice.

Colby, Brian, how's your hinges ? Not sure but sounds like your door has some flex to it or more than normal....

Metro 90% of the time will fix closing problems. I have sold a bunch to guys trying to fix problems with Soff Seal and OER brands. A couple people have metioned having to trim the front window opening back in order for the glass to go all the way up, but otherwise worked just fine. I have installed a number of sets and always closed without issue

Ive used Metro on a bunch of cars (maybe a dozen or so, don't really know the #). Has always been good.

Used the SoffSeal stuff many years ago, as well as a limited amount of OER (which consists of one 69 Camaro trunk seal that wasn't very good, much like the old SS). Didn't work well at all. Really had to slam them shut.

This last week installed SoffSeal strips on a 68 'Velle (not my choice). To my surprise, the doors and trunk shut pretty well. Had to use a little more force than Metro, but nothing like the SS was in the past. Maybe they've changed their products or their A-body strips are better than the F-body, I don't really know.

I'm not about to switch over to the SoffSeal stuff for everything, but it was a bit of a surprise.
