: Pictures from Streets of Willow
rogue Jun 20th, 09, 07:25 PM It was a little hot, but once the wind kicked up a little it felt perfect. Turned a 1:34 best lap of the day. Not bad considering the ariel atom was turning 1:28 and Ferrari 1:32...
Brought my brother in law out in his 997 4S with an EvoMS blower on it. He had a great time and posted a best of 1:36. Met a lot of great people and learned a lot. I think next time I might bump up to the black run group. I didn't need to give a point by the entire day.
I need quick ratio power steering asap.
Video of the 1:34.

rogue Jun 20th, 09, 07:28 PM heres some funny footage of me sliding all around the track after a vette leaked 7 quarts of oil all over the line and an s2000 lost its trans drain plug... I was watching all my footage today with my brother in law and we realized EVERYONE was spinning after the fluids... That'd explain everyone leaving after the attempt to clean it up. I thought it was just me getting tired/lazy.

And my brother in law spinning in his session after the fluids as well.

Thanks.
Its a LA built Z28 that I purchased about a year and a half ago with a 396/375hp someone had swapped in at some point. Rather than rebuilt the 396 or track down a date coded DZ302 I decided to just go with displacement. You can't beat the price on the zz502. Add heads and a cam and you're up to 740hp Naturally aspirated. Tough to beat that.
Due to the fact that I have full intentions to beat the crap out of the car on the track, many people tried to talk me into an LSX swap but LSX first gens lack soul in my opinion. I like warming up my car and smelling gasoline. Its part of the muscle car experience. The ultimate goal is a traditional trans am inspired car that will beat the piss out of the high dollar pro-touring cars and most modern cars on a road course. I plan on attending some of the historic trans am events with the car just to be an observer.
If I could run the car in the historic trans am series I would, and I would build an amazing DZ302 as well. But unfortunately without racing history, that'll never happen.
I run the car hard and feel pretty comfortable driving the car to the track, racing all day and driving home. The car is really well sorted so far. The steering could use some work, and I could use hydroboost. My current brake setup holds up very well under high heat racing conditions and I have yet to experience any brake fade which is impressive. I recently had the suspension reworked by Dick Guldstrand and had him do the gmod and track alignment. It was an honor to have him work on the car. Next mods on the list will be a hydroboost setup and 12:1 quick ratio power steering with a cooler to handle the road racing abuse. I will also be caging the car or may just do a roll bar.
I struggle with going full bred race car with the car or pro-touring. My heart tells me to stick to the trans am racing theme and run the car full bore at the track as much as possible. I need some more racing instruction as well. I'd eventually like to run the Carrera Panamerica and other rallies in the car.
You only live once, gotta make it count!
68Lemans blue Jun 24th, 09, 05:58 AM Very nice ,so cool ,enjoy and Happy Motoring
Calpantera Jun 24th, 09, 01:17 PM Rouge it sounds like that gearing is perfect for Streets of Willow, there is portions of the hill that you never even have to shift for (gotta love that BB). You ever run on Horse Theif or take it up to Buttonwillow?
musclecarjohn Jun 24th, 09, 02:16 PM Thanks.
