dawg Jun 21st, 09, 07:17 AM I would use a procharger
unless you want to cut up your hood then a BDS roots blower is reliable and got that cool factor!
markw Jun 21st, 09, 07:40 AM Saw one of these at a cruise-in once. http://www.superchargersonline.com/product_detail.asp?PartNumber=MAG-01-10-58-005

68z28sd Jun 21st, 09, 02:56 PM what kind of air cleaner set up is that? i have installed a ls2 from 06 gto in a 67 mustang vert and have yet to figure a nice air cleaner set up. i like yours did you make it or was it purchased from someone? how dose it run with the mass air flow sensor so close to the throttle?
Blown Alcohol Hemi Head Jun 21st, 09, 03:20 PM A fully modded 14-71 kobelco with a set back plate and a carbon fiber injector with a spacer
That'll make your passengers crap in their pants
A Pro charger would be my next weapon of choice.
thedugan Jun 21st, 09, 04:05 PM vortech, procharger or magnacharger
ProdigyCustoms Jun 21st, 09, 05:08 PM You ask for "THE BEST", you got The best! Look no further. This wicked set up is a joint effort between Harrop and Wegner Motorsports and is the cleanest and most reliable set up of all. Packaging is awesome, no hood clearance issues, fender well clearance issues. no accesorie drive issues. No belt or vibration issues. And this puppy is capable of making enough boost to......................well, lets just say we need to hold it down for most motors!
And oh yeah, it is really purdy too!

We did not build this engine, or car. this is Wegners test mule that is going in Later-G member Spary67 car. We were impressed enough with the entire program to become a distributor for Wegner / Harrop. We will be selling the kit complete with drive and blower set up.
This one pictured is a 2300CC blower on a 416 CI engine and on initial dyno test made 780 Torque at the start of the run at 3900 and made 685HP and was climbing when they clicked it off way early at only 56000RPM!
Prodigy Customs has become a distributor for this set up and we will be putting one into service very soon in a test mule of our own.

That is very cool !!!
XLexusTech Jun 21st, 09, 06:15 PM Look seriously into Kenny Bell and Magnuson..... for you motor I love the proCharger but on an LS my choice would be the KennyBell or Magnuson
BTW which motor plates and headers are you using? Did you have to dent them to get around steering?

Both those are good blowers. We have used each and are distributors for MagnaCharger and ProCharger.
In fact today we are dyno tuning a Kenne Bell 408 LS motor, real pretty motor. Should make some good power.
This Kenne Bell has the same issue the ProCharger and MagnaCharger have and that is using a common drive belt and factory accessories drive. The factory drive forced us to run the Compressor in the factory down low passenger position, forced a frame notch and custom brackets for the compressor. And I am still not crazy about the belt wrap on the components. The Kenne Bell is tall and requires a little massaging to clear a factory cowl hood. We upped the pulleys to 8 rib drive to try to contain belt slippage, I think it will be OK to 10LBS? We will find out today.
The thing I love about the Wegner / Harrop is the quality of the pieces and the drive system. A few important points.
(1) This set up does NOT use a common belt for all the accessories. When a common belt is used, often times a ton of pressure is applied to the other components(alternator, PS Pump, Water pump) to try to get the belt tight enough to not slip on the blower. Also, most factory drive / blower drives once the blower is added loose belt wrap.
(2) On the MagnaCharger and Kenne Bell the pulley for the blower is on a long shaft to reach the front drive putting pressure on the blower pulley and the crank snout. The Wegner / Harrop set up get rid of both of those issues using its own 8 Rib Drive and pulley on the back side of the balancer and relieving all Crank snout pressure
(3) Look at the belt wrap on the Harrop set up, 200 degrees of belt wrap on a 8 rib belt!
(2) Look at the belt wrap on the components! And look at the compressor location.
