14winter Jun 22nd, 09, 08:24 AM What vital piece is missing from this picture that caused my freinds and I to be up until 1am last night removing and reinstalling the engine?

Is it?
A. The oil filter?
B. The Garage Floor?
C. The washer on the drain plug
D. The clutch?
E. The &^#@! Pilot bearing?!!
I wont give any hints! :clonk:
P.S. Pictures are updated on my signature line.
SPARKY69 Jun 22nd, 09, 08:27 AM That sucks, been there before!!! At least you found it!!
john68 Jun 22nd, 09, 08:31 AM Wild %#@#& guess? Pilot bearing?
Ratpack Jun 22nd, 09, 08:35 AM I'm going with Pilot Bearing...LOL....
rad454 Jun 22nd, 09, 08:35 AM Just put my pilot bearing in and briefly thought about what a pain it would be to forget that piece of the puzzle. What I like about your pic is the way your plug wires are routed behind the engine. Haven't seen that before. It gives your engine bay a clean/professional look. Is that wire loom something you made up or is it a kit?
Melrose RS Jun 22nd, 09, 08:36 AM Dude. I feel for you.

It is both. The looms are from a under header kit made by trans dapt. If you look at some of my other pics you will see some rubber insulated clamps I got from summit to help increase clearance and stability.
Hatman Jun 22nd, 09, 08:58 AM Ya, but look at the time you saved when putting the trans in ,I bet it slid right in .
14winter Jun 22nd, 09, 09:01 AM I would have saved more time switching to geico... 1100 times!!!
Everett#2390 Jun 22nd, 09, 09:24 AM Take the time to shim, or not, the starter while the engine is out and install the clutch.
Or not, since in another post you have the engine installed.
Hopefully, with a wide oil pan, you installed the drvr header first, then the engine. Makes life easier.
14winter Jun 22nd, 09, 09:28 AM I did install/shim the starter and the headers are no problem to install.
Everett#2390 Jun 22nd, 09, 09:30 AM Cool!
68 Ragtop Jun 22nd, 09, 12:41 PM How about:
F. Adjustable dowel pins, located and locked.
Or are you lucky enough that those crusty old dowels dialed the bell housing right in?
Also, why did you have to R&R just for the pilot bearing?
I installed mine with the engine in the car when I did an auto to manual swap.
Bigdummy Jun 22nd, 09, 12:44 PM Practice makes perfect!
fatblock Jun 22nd, 09, 06:39 PM I see no clutch and no pilot bearing..only a flywheel in the above ^ picture.
