: Resistor Wire Bypass?

I'm adding MSD Ignition to my 69 350 and it seems we don't need (want) the resistor wire as our source for 12 volts for the MSD box. What are you all doing to not use the resistor wire?
Cutting it off and soldering a new wire? Finding a different wire to use?
Thanks in advance,
John

I cut mine off close to the bulk head connector and spliced in a new wire.

Just cut the very end off and put a piece of heatshrink or wire nut and tape over the end in case you ever want to return the car to a stock setup so you'll still have the wire.

Make up a piece of 12AWG wire with a female spade on one end and plug it onto the spade terminal marked "IGN" on the fuse block inside the car. Then route it through one of your existing grommets in the firewall. That's what I did for my HEI. You may want to put an inline fuse (say 15A) right off the fuse block as well.

Thank you guys!

Those are both good ideas.

for GOD sakes dont use wire nuts!
use proper water proof splices.

I believe the wire nut was suggested along with electrical tape (if heatshrink wasn't available) just to cover the end of the unused resistor wire to preserve it if he ever wanted to use it again, Captain Panic.
