First off, sorry if this question is in the wrong section. Does anyone know of a company that sells a modern radio that has the apearance of the stock 69's. I have been looking around but have found nothing.

brett,

if you go back to the main forum page, on the far right hand side, those are the site sponsors. the company you're looking for is called retro sound (yellow background/black copy). just click on their ad.
also, do a site search and you will find opinions and pics of the product.

I found mine on Ebay but Ricks First Generation also has them now.

Custom Autosounds http://www.casmfg.com/ is another option. But do a search here first, as a lot of people have issues with their quality.

How are you liking it? Obviously it looks great. But what about the build quality, sound quality and reliability? How long have you had it?

It's a little pricey and I thought I heard some not-so-good things about it, but want to get your opinion if I ever decide to put a stereo back in my car.

i went with the retrosound, and i must say i am extremely pleased with it. I have some pics in my album.

i think the best feature is the usb connection for a thumbdrive, allows me to put a boatload of songs on it and can switch to whatever i feel like listening to at any time.

Rob

PS: buy it straight from retrosound and you can make sure you get the one with the USB connection on a dongle out the back and not the mini-USB connection on the front face, the one on the front face is not real practical for use as you need to have a cable to go from the mini plug to your thumbdrive.

Well that's good. Awesome to hear it's been reliable for a long period of time.

Do you just have basic speakers hooked up to it, or higher end speakers? Do you have any amps or subs? I care a lot about sound quality so I want to make sure that it won't hold back a system that is a little bit on the higher-end.

I have a set of Memphis Audio 6x9s in the rear deck the tweeter in them is adjustable so it cleared the package tray without any cutting..Just using radio power.

I used a factory 68 camaro Am Radio to fill the dash, hooked it up to a 10 ohm speaker in the center of the dash. Then I purchased a Kenwood marine unit and mounted it in the trunk. Most marine units have a corded remote. I mounted the remote inside my console. That way my car looks like factory, but I also have the ability to scrool through my ipod, or listen to sirius satellite radio. Here is a picture of the install.

These guys can take a stock radio that you have and modify the internals so that all the modern stuff is available...and nobody can tell from the outward appearance!

Check this out!

Probably the most valuable AM/FM radio delco ever made.Only 260 units were ever produced.

Does anybody know what year it was made?
