She fired up today, but sounds like my timing is way off or worse. I didn't run the motor for long as i am not sure exactly what is wrong. I think the timing is way off and will be getting a timing light this weekend to check it. Pretty sure i need to adjust the carburetor as well. For some reason my tail lights are constantly on when i put key into on position and don't react to the brake pedal. Not sure what is going on there either.
small video i uploaded of the start up, let me know if sounds like something obvious is not right.

Sounds like the timing is about 16* retarded and the brake light is most likely the switch at the peddle/bump stop (may have knocked it loose).

I will go ahead and try resetting the base timing to 0* tomorrow.
I'll double check the switch as i did have to unplug it when i was running the wires for the gages. Anybody know what this switch do?

That is the dimmer switch for the headlights, although from the looks of it that one isn't doing much of anything.

Sounds like some cylinders aren't hitting. If timing doen't change it a bunch it may take a bit for the lifters to pump up if you didn't pre-lube. Hope this isn't on a new cam. First thing I always do is check timing, get idle up,adjust lifters.Check for leaks.Check vacuum.
Good luck.

ok, i took the cap/wires off, and set it up, this time it sounds better. I will get a timing light tomorrow ans play with it some more. It's not on a new cam, motor already been trough a break in and had few miles put on it before being put into my Camaro. The first time i went off the marks that were put when the motor was pulled, obviously that didn't work.

Motor ate up the starter while i was messing with timing but i was able to swap out the nose cone from the weaker starter i had laying around.
