Hey Guys...I have a 68 Convert. plain jane with the deluxe interior and spent all day Sat. cleaning the interior with the wifey. I noticed that the steering wheel itself is in fine condition but the center piece, with the horn buttons, is really faded to the point that the bare metal is showing through. I am aware that i could repaint it myself or have someone do it, but it is pretty chipped up and may have some cracks in it. Does anyone know if this item is still available for purchase. I posted the pic below for reference. Obviously this isn't from my vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated....Jake

Don't know if a repro is available... doubt it, but I'd take a slightly flawed original over a repop everytime !:p Only reason I can think of for replacing is if it's cracked...not sure about repairing the pot metal. Otherwise it's just a matter of prep & paint...and finding the correct color match.

You'll get much more satisfaction out of doin' it yurself...:beers:

Mine looks about the same after a repaint. As I said, if it aint cracked or too severely pitted, should be able to bring it back to life:)

I just restored mine & it came out great. I first stripped off all of the old paint. Then I lightly sanded it & painted it. Mine was black so I used semi-gloss paint. I then got a silver paint pen to do the trim & it was done. Piece of cake!
